It was not an accident, it was another STATE-CAPITALIST CRIME No more blood on the altar of profit ---- A year has passed since the fatalcrash in Tempe. The tragic train accident was another state murder. It
was mathematically a prescribed crime for which people, train passengersand workers, were to pay with their own lives. ---- Five months ago, thewaters from the floods in the area of Thessaly entered the basements ofthe Domokos station, rendering useless the electromechanical equipmentthat regulated signaling and remote control not only on the floodedsection of the line (Domokos-Larissa), but also on the "dry" one.Lianokladi-Domokos section. This means that those points continue tooperate WITHOUT signaling and remote control, while at the parliamentaryinquiry committee (1/2/24) the president of OSE, P. Terezakis, statedthat everything is working "normally" except for the section from Domokoto Larissa which was destroyed by the bad weather Daniel - from Menidito Thessaloniki and from Thessaloniki to Strymonas and Promahonas.The workers were constantly warning. With the only weapon they have intheir hands, the strike, they tried to highlight the problems that haveexisted for a long time in the railway network, while in itsannouncements the train drivers' union talked about the criminalconditions that prevail on the railway lines, clearly stating that it isonly a matter of time before something fatal happens. The daily smallaccidents, the constant delays, the stops at dead spots were events thathappened on many train routes and especially on long routes like theAthens-Thessaloniki one. These constant danger signs were seen by all,but the indifference of governments under the guise of consolidatingtransport services and saving instead of improving transport, constantlydegraded them by reducing staff, not maintaining the machines and notstrengthening the infrastructure with modern media, which led to thistragic end.In recent years, the attack of the state and capital on the poor socialstrata has manifested itself with particular intensity, especially inthe Greek area. The worsening of social inequalities, the attack onlabor rights, the devaluing of human life, the intensification of work,the expansion of social control by the State and governance throughrepression are indicative of some of the dominant aspects of today'scapitalist system, a of "modern totalitarianism" that forms a newcontext in the relations between capital and labor, between the Stateand the social base.The management and destructive policies implemented in recent years asin other cases have led to the death of innocent people. As in thepandemic with the loss of thousands of our fellow human beings and thenon-hiring of permanent staff of doctors, E.K.A.B. nurses, paramedics,cleaners, etc. which forces the dissolution of the E.S.Y. through itssystematic and intensifying understaffing and underfunding to this day,the catastrophic floods in Thessaly and the fires every summer, as wellas the thousands of dead who die daily on the borders, as well as thehundreds of labor accidents and the daily femicides. A system and aState that operates on the basis of profit and the interests of theelite, constantly commits crimes against the social base, workers.For us, solidarity, collective struggles from below and classorganization are our weapons against the encroachment of the State andcapitalism that attack all social fields. Therefore, against the extremeunderestimation of human life, let us promote solidarity and mutual aid,the universal collective values of freedom and equality. We stand by thefamilies of the victims who, one year later, are demanding justice. Weare fighting for meaningful measures to prevent and protect life. In theface of the usurpation of our labor rights and the deterioration ofworking and living conditions, let us propose grassroots organizationand the struggle to win what is taken from us every day with so muchviolence and repression. To organize side by side in all fields, tofight, to respond.Solidarity to:- Hospital doctors fighting against the dismantling of the public healthsystem- Educators and students who are fighting against the privatization ofthe educational system & the dismissed employee of the EKPA due to hisparticipation in a symbolic action by blocking tele-examinations for 2hours in response to the violation of article 16 but also to thedecision of EKPA to conduct remote examinations, in order to curb thestudent protests- Dismissed male and female workers at TaskUs Thessaloniki- Dismissed workers at EKETA Thessaloniki- Farmers and breeders who are escalating their mobilizations againstthe unbearable increase in the cost of production which results in theabandonment of their lands and units and their massive impoverishmentWe call for a strike mobilization on Wednesday 28/2/24 at 10.30 in KamaraDON'T FORGET THE STATE - CAPITALIST CRIMES.
