WORLD WORLDWIDE EUROPE ITALY - news journal UPDATE. - (en) Italy, FDCA, Cantiere #25 - Anarchists in the Resistance in Genoa - Guido Barroero (ca, de, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

On the 79th anniversary of the Liberation we remember comrade Guido
Barroero by re-proposing this writing by him. ---- When the fascist
regime fell in 1943, Genoese anarchists were among the first to organize
armed resistance against the Nazis and republicans, paying a very high
price in terms of deaths and deportations to Nazi concentration camps.
---- The anarchist SAP Brigades "Malatesta" (operating in Pegli and the
Ponente) and "Pisacane" (Cornigliano), the libertarian detachments
"Pietro Gori" (Sestri Ponente), "Gastone Cianchi" (Genoa centre),
"Gaggero " (Voltri) and "Levante" (Nervi), the libertarian nuclei in
Garibaldi's SAP Brigades and the action teams of the Libertarian
Communist Federation in the main establishments of the Ponente gathered,
on the eve of the insurrection, over four hundred armed men, who gave
the their contribution on the days from 24 to 27 April 1945.
Anarchists also participate in the main CLNs of the neighborhood
(Voltri, Prà, Pegli, Sestri Ponente, Cornigliano, S.P. D'Arena,
Pontedecimo, Genova Centro, Fegino and in the province of Rossiglione
and Sestri Levante) and of companies (Ansaldo Fossati, Cantieri Ansaldo,
S. Giorgio, ILVA Campi, Allestimento Navi, SIAC Pontedecimo, Bagnara,
Piaggio, ILVA Voltri, Ansaldo Cerusa, etc.) giving their active
contribution.
The action of the Genoese anarchists during the Resistance was high
profile and fully committed. At the Liberation, twenty-three people died
in the Genoese anarchist movement in the anti-Nazi-fascist struggle. Two
of these (Antonio Pittaluga and Gastone Cianchi) during the days of the
insurrection.
The Genoese anarchist movement will be, in the immediate post-war years,
unitary and highly structured and the very choice of the name
(Libertarian Communist Federation) will indicate a strong propensity if
not towards arcinovism at least towards class anarchism, based mainly on
industrial workers, and to the more rationally coordinated
organizational forms that it has historically imposed on traditional
libertarian federalism.

movement in Genoa in the post-war period.
