The Conference of the Italian Anarchist Federation gathered in Empoli
confirms the urgency of the anti-militarist commitment in the context of
global war escalation. The fear of war fueled by governments and the
policy of deterrence they claim serve to justify rearmament,
militarization and authoritarianism. ---- In this perspective the
conference adheres to the demonstration of May 24th in Campi Bisenzio
(FI) called by the Tuscany anti-militarist Assembly in front of the
Leonardo factory, against all the armies and the war industry, for its
reconversion, in denunciation of the collaboration of the arms
production giant with the state of Israel.
The Conference supports the initiative of 1/2 June in Turin promoted by
the Turin Anarchist Federation and the city's anti-militarist Assembly
against the armies and the militarization of the neighborhoods.
The conference of the Italian Anarchist Federation meeting in Empoli
invites the federated entities to engage in fundraising for the Sudanese
anarchists and anarchists who are victims of war and repression.
The situation in Sudan is worsening. So far all attempts at mediation to
stop the hostilities between the two generals, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo
"Hemetti", leader of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), the former
janjaweed, and the de facto president and head of the army, Abdel Fattah
Abdelrahman al -Burhan, they are bankrupt.
In twelve months of struggle for power, almost 16 thousand people have
died - a figure certainly underestimated due to the difficulty of
collecting accurate and real-time data - while over 9 million have been
displaced. There are approximately 1,500,000 refugees, those who have
sought protection in neighboring countries. Various international
players operate on the Sudanese scene. Among these also Italy which,
before the conflict, made agreements with Hemetti for the control of
migratory flows, offering assistance and training to the men of the RSF.
The media and activist silence surrounding Sudan is allowing soldiers on
both sides to commit genocide with impunity. In this context, the
Revolutionary Committees, in which our anarchist comrades participate,
try to maintain their activities, but this becomes increasingly
difficult with the escalation of violence between the two conflicting
parties.
In a year of civil war, this company, opponents of the past regime and
of the two warlords who are competing for the country, have implemented
numerous initiatives of struggle and solidarity with the population
exhausted by the war. Today they are suffering very harsh repression.
Some were arrested* and tortured*. His partner Sarah was raped and
killed (source CNT-AIT Toulouse).
Our comrades in Sudan urgently need help. As a Federation we can only
give all our support and solidarity. To contribute, send what you have
collected to the iban account IT97B3608105138200363100368 in the name of
Gianmaria Valent by 15 June with the reason for "pro anarchists Sudan".
The threat of eviction of the anarchist space on 19 July in Rome is part
of a broader and more coherent plan of attack on all struggle movements
and in particular on the anarchist movement. An attack made of closure
of spaces of political action and repression. In this way, the fascist
government tries to silence the voice that most consistently fights
against the war, for freedom and social justice.
The FAI conference held in Empoli expresses solidarity with all the
self-managed entities under attack and appeals to all the federated
entities to support the fight to defend the 19 July space to block the
threat of eviction.
