WORLD WORLDWIDE ITALY SICILIA - news journal UPDATE - (en) Italy, FAS Sicilia Libertaria: Editorial. Electoral fervor (ca, de, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

Electoral fervor is a constant in Italian politics (after all there are
elections with an impressive succession), so it seems that the parties
are making some movement, are active and committed to the problems that
the nation faces. A little less enthusiastic are the voters who no
longer go to vote, so much so that the number of voters has been reduced
in recent years to less than 50% of those entitled to vote: convincing
people to go to the polls is increasingly becoming a challenge. more
difficult for the parties. However, they are not discouraged and
continue their commitment with self-sacrifice. Always certainly for the
good of the people and the nation.

What has been particularly inflamed in recent months are the parties of
the left, already orphaned by a Draghi, a Monti or a Prodi, pervaded by
an inspiration that makes them appear seriously intent on tackling the
urgent issues that afflict us. Thus we see them weaving networks,
inventing the most daring alchemies in order to regain the favor of the
voters and be able to return to governing in the name of the sovereign
people to guarantee their well-being and prosperity. They spare no
effort in this, they travel the length and breadth of the country, they
rush to wherever an electoral challenge is underway, they examine
candidatures, they consult personalities of proven moral rectitude,
sometimes they argue, they separate and then reunite, but everything
always for the supreme good and in the interest of citizens. Then there
is an aggravating circumstance that makes the need for an electoral
affirmation of the left (or at least of the centre-left) even more
pressing: the right-right government extraordinarily embodied by the
first Italian woman prime minister. And if this government, in which
echoes of a fascism that once was and is once again becoming reality
before our eyes, drags us further and further into the abyss of
unbridled authoritarianism, it is up to the left to save us. Here you are!

Well, however, this left, which has now also embarked on the 5 Star
movement, no longer declaring itself to be either right or left, could
be asked what the idea of society is that it wants to contrast with the
right-right. What are your proposals regarding the truly fundamental
issues that should be addressed today: war, environment, climate,
migration, to which all the others are linked, and certainly not in a
subordinate position: work, equality, rights, and so on. Now it would be
too easy to demonstrate from the recent past how the policies of
centre-right governments have been in perfect continuity with those of
the centre-left, and vice versa, in a sort of pursuit of the removal of
rights, the weakening of the working classes and the control of the
exploited. Indeed, even on a linguistic level such expressions are
banned from official communication: there are no longer any classes or
exploited people, nor masters or exploiters, only self-entrepreneurs and
start-ups.

In an interview a few weeks ago with the newspaper La Stampa, Democratic
Party senator Graziano Del Rio, a respectable person, when asked about
the Italian government's agreements with Egypt to stop migrants,
responded to the question of what the Democratic Party's proposals are:
" We will soon present a bill: we must favor regular and nominative
entry channels. Anyone who wants to come to Italy should sign up to a
list with their name and surname, so that we know who is entering the
country. Only in this way can you discourage departures and have legal
entries. Let's be clear, no one has the magic recipe in their pocket to
govern a phenomenon like this, neither us nor the right, but together we
could think like a great European country." This is just one example of
a vision that represents the migrant as a potential danger (so how would
it differ from the right?) and offers laughable solutions.

In the recent regional elections in Sardinia, the candidate of the
"left", Alessandra Todde, presented herself with a program full of all
the usual modernist phraseology that believes she can reconcile
capitalism and justice, a technocratic reformism capable of guaranteeing
the transition towards the new world sustainable and integrated,
ecological and industrial, local and global. Here is an excerpt:

"The Sardinian labor market shows a high level of precariousness and
massive youth emigration, aggravated by demographic ageing. The proposed
strategy aims to reverse emigration and attract talent, enhancing higher
education and job placement with a focus on innovation and smart
working. Efforts to integrate active policies, training and employment
services must be coordinated. It is crucial to adapt the labor market to
global dynamics, promoting the employability and integration of
migrants, with a careful eye on the quality and dignity of work".

"Making Sardinia a competitive and attractive region", is written in the
program. Which right would not subscribe to this statement?

We do not want to say here that the right and the left are the same
thing (but it is certain that this left does not have a real alternative
vision to the right), and we will not stay here to argue that the
elections are a scam and that if they really counted for something would
have been abolished, which is also intuitive, however since for some
decades now we have been witnessing an irreversible crisis of
representative democracy, of its drift towards authoritarian forms, so
much so that there is talk of democracy in many quarters, why not start
a profound reflection on the role of elections and on alternative ways
of implementing decision-making processes, which truly emanate from that
people that institutional politics uses as a screen and fetish? If not
the left-right - which dominates the media, presents itself as a valid
alternative to the right-right and certainly has no interest in changing
the status quo, at least what a few years ago was defined as the radical
left should have more than one reason and more than one reason to escape
the electoral pantomime. Unless she wants to remain a prisoner in a
system from which she has already been exiled.
