WORLD WORLDWIDE EUROPE FRANCE - news journal UPDATE - (en) France, OCL CA #342 - Editorial - Will the old world remain stuck at the polls? (ca, de, fr, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

Now it's certain! The macronie is a sinking ship and it takes with it

the little veneer of liberal democracy that still remains in the Fifth
Republic. To try to save her, a supporter of the Francisque and a "New
Popular Front" (NFP) bend over to her bedside. We are therefore asked to
choose between "socialism or barbarism". Let's make no mistake! What is
playing out is not a tragedy of which history has the secret, but rather
a bad farce whose consequences must not be neglected.
The main culprits: Macron and his little soldiers who perpetuate "free
and undistorted competition" (deterioration of public services, reform
of unemployment insurance) while legitimizing themes dear to the far
right (immigration asylum law) . It is they who, through their words,
their reforms and their actions, make life unbearable for the working
classes and continue to open the door to power to the far right. Door
wide open by the Socialist Party (moreover, Macron and part of his
clique were frolicking there). It is this caviar left, of the Hollande
type, which in an absurd logic, has never ceased to bring up the extreme
right to keep power. What can we expect from an electoral NFP supported
by elephants from the past like Strauss-Kahn (specialist in gender
equality)?

Whatever the verdict at the polls, we already know the loser, it's the
pro! Indeed, the Fifth Republic is a political regime of an arrogant
French bourgeoisie, full of profits which refuses to share anything. The
popular classes called to a "republican front" and not an
"anti-capitalist front", have little influence and are rarely welcome in
the leadership of parties or intermediary bodies.

Concerning the extreme right, this is not the result of a moral
bankruptcy of the "masses" who would be won over by fascism, but the
translation of a stiffening of a part of the wealthy who are waging a
war of merciless class. The Macronist bloc is crumbling. Never mind! For
the dominant classes and the employers, the RN will do the job, it will
be a good guarantor of the forced march of "capitalist planning", of
social destruction and the elimination of the weakest to generate more
profit. And obviously order! All this while relying on their eternal
reactionary fundamentals targeting the racialized, the precarious,
women, sexual minorities, the disabled, difference...
Moreover, it is not only the bourgeoisie that has become radicalized,
but also the media discourse: this propaganda which demonizes the
protest left and trivializes the far right.

In this nauseating context, there is a strong incentive to vote.
Everyone, from the RN to the NFP, plays with our fear, so that we vote
with our emotions and not our convictions.
Certainly the victory of the NFP would bring a welcome lull, concerning
economic and systemic oppressions: sexism, racism, homophobia,
Islamophobia... But, the NFP will garner votes above all to block and
not by adherence to its reformist program. A large part of them are
capitalists and for social peace. 1 year ago, after the death of Nahel,
outside LFI, they all dissociated themselves from the rioters and now
they are calling on them to vote for them?! The strikes, the great
social advances... we will see that later. The calls for calm began on
the evening of June 30! To the point that we ask ourselves the
unpleasant question: is the NFP more afraid of the RN or of the anger of
the masses? There is a terrible gap between the social expectations of
the population (GJ, working-class neighborhoods, etc.) and the left-wing
program presented as extreme even though it is not breaking with
neoliberalism and is inventing itself a connection with the "Popular
Front", an alliance of two workers' parties.

To the great dismay of anti-fascists, it is impossible to lose the RN
without offering an alternative of solidarity and perspectives to the
working classes on a daily basis. This is the pitfall of anti-fascism
which has mainly positioned itself on a moral level, which has too often
refused to play politics, offering nothing other than the path to the
polls or being left behind. of social democracy... and whose remaining
small groups risk being dissolved as soon as Bardella arrives.

For us, the solution is not in the ballot box, whether we vote or not,
it will not change the minds of those who speculate on people's lives.
In this climate of political tension, we are presented with the
electoral illusion as the only perspective. So yes, between the
bourgeoisie who would put up with it, the media propaganda, the politics
of social destruction and the deafness of the left, yes, the RN is now
corrupting all social classes. With a very concrete result on the
evening of June 30, around 34% of the votes for the RN.

Only our struggles will be able to impose a form of "civil war" (to use
Macron's term) on the bourgeoisie and the bosses. Let us transform this
fear, which is instilled in us on a daily basis, into rage, into a
policy of emancipation.
Faced with the bias of the mainstream media to only present far-right
speeches, we can decide the debates we wish to have, whether in the
street, in the workplace, in our newspapers, in order to spread a word
which corresponds to what we experience on the one hand and dream on the
other. Let us make their speeches inaudible on all subjects that concern
us. On nuclear power, while in the evening of the Europeans Macron
announced 8 new reactors "with budgetary seriousness"?! Against the
class violence intrinsic to capitalist society as by denouncing France
Travail. Against racist violence by supporting, for example, the
Belleville minors who are about to be deported. Against colonial
violence all over the world and also perpetrated by France (as in Kanaky
or Mayotte). Against patriarchal violence, drawing inspiration from
international feminist struggles.

All forms of alienation and widespread exploitation in society resonate
within us, a feeling of anger, a desire to take back what has been
stolen from us (whether for the kanak, his land, his culture and his
identity or for the prole the product of his labor). Whether it starts
with riots, union strikes or wildcat strikes, let us be creative
anti-capitalist forces capable of organizing solidarity. This is why we
call for participation in all rallies in front of prisons to demand the
release of Kanak separatists deported to mainland France.

After the temporary depression, we must have confidence in the
imagination of the masses to collectively create responses to economic
and racist alienation: our capacity to react has not been destroyed. And
in this sense, it is not utopian to think that the social movement could
find ways to go beyond the parties and union bureaucracies, allowing us
to free ourselves from domination and avoid the advent of "fascism".
