Dear friends,

In Ukraine, it is legal for private citizens to keep wild animals. Now, as bullets fly and missiles tear up the land around them, these animals have been abandoned and are roaming free – bewildered, frightened and hungry.

Tigers, lions, bears and wolves are among the wild creatures rescued. Make no mistake, if we don’t rescue animals like these, they will kill to eat and be killed themselves by soldiers.

It is almost unbelievable that in the ruins of a village destroyed by Russian soldiers, lions and tigers roam free, but that is the reality. The animals escape from zoos or private homes when people flee, and find themselves in the middle of a nightmare.

Please help us rescue, feed and care for tigers, lions and other wild animals caught in this terrible war.

Please help by making a donation now!

Our partner, the Wild Animal Rescue Center (WARC) in Ukraine, works around the clock to rescue wild animals – risking their lives on every rescue mission.

It is a huge task and WARC responds within minutes of receiving calls for help. From lions and bears to beavers and small rodents, our partner team is there, providing life-saving medical care and temporary shelter for animals that would likely be shot on sight by advancing enemy soldiers.

The rescued animals often arrive at WARC’s rescue center traumatized, injured, starving, or nothing more than skin and bone.

Can you imagine how terrifying it must be to try and save a scared wild animal as enemy soldiers rain fire all around you?

When it comes to larger animals like tigers and bears, the team must not only navigate the hazards of the war zone, but must wrangle scared, dangerous wild animals who do not understand the nightmare they have found themselves in.

Yet even as these brave wildlife heroes put their lives on the line every day, the cost of supplies is rising and donations are drying up. We must equip our partner with everything they need to continue fighting to save animals who truly have no-one else to turn to.

As the enemy advances in Ukraine, the number of affected animals is growing, and WARC is being overwhelmed.

Without our team, wild animals have no chance  – we need YOUR help to continue our vital work.

WARC is not a permanent home for the animals because it does not have the money or space to be a sanctuary. It is rather a caring holding operation until the animals can be moved to sanctuaries.

We are committed to helping our partner find safe homes for all the animals at their shelter, but the most crucial need is to rescue as many animals from the war zone as possible.

Each rescue mission costs up to $4,000 (roughly £3,000).

Every animal life counts, as this bat would attest to after being rescued by our team.
