This is the busiest time of year for animal rescue organizations and shelters, which see a heartbreaking surge in abandoned and surrendered animals. Many cats and dogs are left to fend for themselves on the streets or heartlessly dumped at shelters, cast aside by owners who are going away for the holidays and no longer want the responsibility of a pet.  As animal-lovers, we know compassion does not take a holiday – especially when so many hungry, homeless and heartbroken animals are waiting for our help.
