We all expect the sweet treat we buy at the store to bring joy, not harm. But new research shows that many dark chocolate products across the market contain harmful heavy metals like lead and cadmium. Lead is known cause severe health problems, particularly in children, and cadmium has been shown to cause cancer!
Shockingly, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (F1DA) doesn't set enforceable limits on toxic heavy metals like these in most foods, just meager suggestions. The agency must step up and pass policies that would curb these toxins in the products millions of consumers buy and eat, both in the U.S. and worldwide! Without clear regulations, chocolate producers are free to expose us to these deadly metals, and even profit from it.
P.S. New research recently revealed that many chocolate products contained dangerous levels of lead and cadmium, both known to cause awful health issues. Sign to demand action from the FDA.
