Dear friends,
Poisoned, shot or beaten to death – this is the fate that awaits thousands of dogs living on Serbia’s streets. Those who escape death at the hands of the heartless live a life of fear, hunger and disease, hunted by authorities who slaughter them en masse and dump their lifeless bodies in landfills. |

Thousands of Serbian puppies are left to die every year. |
In Serbia’s rural areas, dogs are seen as tools used to guard livestock from thieves and predators. Virtually none of these dogs are spayed or neutered, because the farmers either can’t afford the procedure or simply don’t care about the puppies born into suffering, simply abandoning them to die.
Over the decades, this has unleashed a harrowing cycle of suffering that has spread across the country: Thousands of immediately-doomed puppies are born every year. The ‘lucky’ ones are abandoned at shelter doors; the rest are thrown into dumpsters or tossed into rivers to drown. |
Those that survive face unimaginable suffering on the streets – or worse. |
The few that survive this nightmare face another horror on the streets. Hungry and scared, they fall victim to poisoning, beatings and abuse from people who view them as pests. Such cruelty is shockingly common, leaving countless dogs to suffer unthinkable pain and fear, trapped in a world empty of compassion, comfort and care. |
Almost nowhere is safe for Serbia’s street dogs. |
It is almost worse for those captured by authorities and sent to municipal shelters. Most of these facilities are overcrowded, underfunded and poorly managed. There is no warmth, love or care for the unlucky animals who find themselves there. |
We recently shared the devastating story of dogs that went ‘missing’ from a municipal shelter, only to be found dead at a local landfill. When the shelter was questioned, they attempted to cover up their cruelty, trying to hide the horrors these animals faced. |
These are the kinds of needless deaths we are fighting so hard to prevent – but without your help, there’s nothing we can do for the animals. |
These helpless, terrified animals deserve so much better and with your help, we can save their lives. |
To tackle this crisis, we’ve partnered with compassionate organizations in Serbia – like Oaza Azil and the Association for the Protection of Animals – to rescue, rehabilitate, and find loving homes for abused, abandoned dogs. These poor dogs need love and care, and we really do hope that you can find it in your heart to donate generously to help them.
YOU have the power to give hope and healing to Serbia’s street dogs today. - $15 (£12) will provide food and clean water for a hungry dog for a month.
- $25 (£20) will deliver vital tick and flea treatments for two dogs, protecting them from painful infestations.
- $50 (£40) will fund life-saving veterinary care for four dogs, including deworming, vaccinations and tick and flea treatments, bringing health and hope to injured or sick animals.
- $100 (£80) will sterilize a dog, preventing future suffering and reducing overpopulation.

It is heartbreaking that there is a country where dogs are hunted like vermin, and we cannot turn a blind eye to their suffering. Donate right away to give these dogs a second chance at life. |
