WORLD WORLDWIDE US USA - New York NY - New York City NYC - THE CITY - Tech firm fast-tracked after hiring Adams’ power broker
Dear New Yorkers,
In 2020, Gravity Technologies launched a campaign to install their electric vehicle charging hubs — which they claim to be the fastest chargers on the market — for public use in New York City.
The company’s flagship charging station on the West Side of Manhattan had launched in March the year before with seed money from Google and intended to compete with power players like Tesla.
Gravity’s push to get the city to buy its fast charge hubs began with de Blasio, but CEO Moshe Cohen quickly pivoted to Eric Adams when he won the primary. In August 2021, Cohen hosted a fundraiser on the roof of the company’s West Village offices that raised $22,850 for the Adams campaign.
They hired a lobbyist to target officials in the city Department of Transportation, as well as mayoral aides in both the de Blasio and then Adams administration.
But after multiple years of lobbying, the pitch had still gone nowhere — until Gravity Technologies brought in the lobbying firm founded by Adams’ former chief of staff Frank Carone.
Read more here about how this tech startup got on the fast track to install their charging towers after hiring Adams’ power broker.

Both cut income taxes, and both are taking a big gamble that they will be able to get through the next year without their plans being blown apart by President Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress.
