WORLD WORLDWIDE EUROPE FRANCE PARIS - news journal UPDATE - (en) France, OCL Paris: Meeting with the group La Mouette Enragée around their workers' survey (ca, de, fr, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

The current balance of power in the workplace is largely unfavorable to

us. Despite the existence of determined wage struggles, in particular
the major strikes of undocumented workers in the Paris region, it is
clear that combativeness is at half-mast in most companies, especially
the smallest ones, except during national days of action that never
manage to snatch significant victories. In addition, these bring
together some of the most stable and "protected" sections of workers
(large companies, civil servants), and therefore do not highlight the
employees, sometimes precarious, in any case the most exploited, in the
private sector.

However, it is from these people that we saw the greatest determination,
during the Yellow Vest movement, in 2018-2019. And this is where we must
ask ourselves: why has the most spontaneous, powerful and proletarian
class struggle of recent years taken place outside the workplace?

It is partly to answer these questions that La Mouette Enragée, an
anarchist-communist group from Boulogne-sur-mer, set out "to meet a
world that some say has disappeared, but is nevertheless very much
alive: the working class of today", "by exhuming and reappropriating in
our own way this old tool of the historical class movement, the workers'
inquiry".

Based on the responses to their questionnaire, the book, which is the
result of 6 years of fieldwork (2017-2023), details daily exploitation
(the working day and the tasks performed, the perception that
proletarians have of their work, relationships between colleagues and
with the hierarchy, gender relations, salary, working conditions,
blackmail over employment, etc.) and the possibilities of resistance, in
different sectors: health, call centers, logistics, couriers, agri-food.
The book also seeks, based on the experience of work, to question the
current management and the changes in exploitation: uberization,
management, and temporary work.

Questions are bound to emerge, and the authors do not dodge the issue:
what is the external relationship between the "investigators" and the
"investigated"? With the union(s)? How to start from "radical criticism
of everyday life" in order to "rebuild an imaginary to free oneself from
the chains" of exploitation?

La Mouette Enragée and the Courant Alternatif group of Île-de-France
invite you to come and discuss these questions based on the book, in the
presence of the authors, so that this material, too rare in the period,
can be used to broaden the understanding of the mechanisms of
exploitation, in order to face it, collectively.

The meeting will take place at the EDMP, 8 impasse Crozatier, in Paris
12th, on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at 2 p.m.
