Perhaps once upon a time, when people looked out much more and many more
things happened on the street, with multiple interactions between peopleand no interactions between people and smartphones, you could observe
very interesting things. It was enough to stand on the balcony to
entertain yourself by watching children or teenagers playing, adults
talking, arguing or cursing something, cars and scooters passing by with
an almost hypnotic rhythm. Well, regarding this last example, you won't
believe it but if you try to look out I'm sure you too will notice that
even today something continues to happen. For example, on the street
where I live the following dynamic occurs that I would define as very
interesting. So, the stretch of road I look out onto is urban and
two-way. Everything proceeds more or less regularly, even though the
area of this stretch has a stable decent intensity of traffic and a
constant difficulty in finding parking. Perhaps also and above all
because of this difficulty, it suddenly happens that someone deems it
necessary to park in a double row and go do what they did it for. From
here on it is only a matter of a countdown of a few seconds and the
horns become the protagonists of what is in all respects an authentic
traffic block. This happens because, in the presence of the parked
vehicle, the road is not wide enough to allow the obstacle to be
bypassed and the passage of vehicles in both directions at the same
time. Well, systematically one row flows and the other struggles and
vice versa. How can we get out of this impasse while waiting for the
longed-for return of the double rower? With the only possible weapon:
solidarity. After the cars in the same row have passed quickly, a driver
in solidarity with the other blocked row chooses to stop at a distance
such as to allow the driver in the opposite lane not to remain stuck
forever and with him the dozens of cars that have joined up in the
meantime. What would happen without this gesture of solidarity with
which, with a spontaneous alternation, one time the one coming from
there stops and the other the one coming from there? All stopped who
knows for how long and horns honking furiously that would be the
soundtrack of scenes similar or identical to those of the films of Bud
Spencer and Terence Hill. Not to mention the guilty one who once
returned would probably be lynched.
