Lung cancer has long been associated with smoking. But now, shocking new research is revealing a terrifying trend: more and more non-smokers are being diagnosed with this deadly disease.
Lung cancer is already the leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide, and it's only getting worse. Studies show that lung cancer in people who have never smoked is now the fifth highest cause of cancer-related deaths. In 2022 alone, a staggering 200,000 cases of one particularly aggressive form of lung cancer — adenocarcinoma — were directly linked to air pollution.Scientists fear this number will continue to rise as pollution worsens across the globe.
Many of these individuals never had a choice. They never picked up a cigarette. They never engaged in any known risky behavior. And yet, they are still fighting for their lives anyway.
Non-smokers who develop this disease may not even know they are at risk. As a result, they are diagnosed too late — when survival chances are grimmer.
