6,000 Dogs Face Execution—Help Us Fight to Stop the Slaughter!

Dear friends,

On February 10th, 2025, the Kibaha District Council passed a catastrophic order: cull over 6,000 roaming dogs. The reason? A rabies outbreak. The method? Indiscriminate killing.

Imagine it—innocent dogs cornered, hunted, and slaughtered. No mercy, no second chances.

The streets of Kibaha are on the brink of running red with blood. But we have a chance—a rapidly closing window—to stop it.

The Tanzania Animal Welfare Society (TAWESO), our tireless partner, has stepped up to lead the charge, launching a mass vaccination and outreach program that could halt this massacre. But with thousands of dogs spread across 1,500 square kilometers, we face an uphill battle. This isn’t just about saving lives—it’s about rewriting fate.

This is not just another rescue. This is our biggest mission yet.

TAWESO urgently needs $12,800 to execute this mission!

This is a massive operation unlike anything we’ve done before. TAWESO urgently needs $12,800 to execute this mission:

  • $7,000 — Life-saving vaccines and essential medicines.

  • $3,300 — Support for 11 dedicated volunteers on the ground for a month.

  • $2,500 — Crucial transport to reach dogs in even the most remote villages.

Outreach clinics will move through Kibaha, vaccinating, treating, and protecting these dogs before it’s too late. We have one month to make this happen.

This isn’t just urgent—it’s life or death.

Kibu & Mute – The Faces of Survival

Kibu: A Body Ravaged, A Spirit Unbroken

Kibu, a 3-year-old stray, has known only suffering. His body is a battlefield—mange, fungal infections, bacterial wounds, and parasites torment him endlessly. His skin is raw, flaking off in patches as he rubs against rough surfaces, desperate for relief. His urine runs yellow, his body weak and skeletal, and his eyes? They beg for help.

But Kibu’s spirit still clings to life.

With $800, Kibu can undergo a three-month treatment plan to heal his wounds, rid his body of parasites, and finally, know what it’s like to live without pain.

Mute: The Silent Sufferer

Mute is a 4-year-old stray who’s been silenced by years of neglect. His eye injury is grotesque—pussing, oozing, and partially blinding him. Diarrhea wracks his fragile body, parasites feast on his insides, and his legs tremble with every unsteady step. He doesn’t bark. He doesn’t whimper. He just endures.

With $750, Mute can receive four months of life-saving treatment—cleaning his wounds, stabilizing his body, and giving him a future.

These are the dogs we can still save. But hundreds more suffer the same fate—until the culling comes.

A Massacre in the Making

Reports flooding in from IPP Media, Swahili Times, and local communities tell us the horror has already begun. Packs of dogs are being rounded up, their fates sealed without a second thought. Volunteers describe haunting scenes—dogs screaming, running for their lives, only to be captured and killed.

But there is still time. We can stop this.
