Help us save 100s of cats left for dead in Morocco

Dear friends,

In the streets of Morocco, a heartbreaking truth repeats itself every day—cats are treated as disposable. Sick? Tossed aside. Disabled? Ignored. Old or injured? Left to die. In many communities, cats are seen as vermin, not lives worth saving. The suffering is relentless, especially for the ones who can’t even cry for help.

At You Can Save Me Shelter, we see these stories unfold every day. And we refuse to turn away.

We step in for the ones no one else will touch—especially disabled catsThe blind. The paralyzed. The amputees. The ones clinging to life with a will that astonishes everyone who meets them.

Every Scar Has a Story—and Every Rescue a New Chapter

Many of the animals we rescue were already fighting to survive. These aren’t just cats with broken legs or missing eyes. These are souls burdened with trauma—tied to trees, poisoned, attacked, or left to starve.

Like Nada, a kitten found dragging her tiny body through the dust, her back legs limp from a spinal injury. She was deemed “worthless” by others. But with treatment, love, and a wheelchair funded by donors, Nada now zips through the shelter grounds, chasing sunbeams and purring at every hug.

Then there’s Mika, who arrived hairless from mange, blind from untreated infections, and so underweight her bones jutted through her skin. Mika was considered unsalvageable—until your donations gave her a second chance. Today, her fur has grown back, her trust is blooming, and her favorite place is curled on a blanket, safe and warm.

These are just a few among many. Each one a testament to what happens when someone believes they’re worth saving.

But It’s Not Just Cats — We Save the Forgotten Dogs Too

Some say we’re only “the cat people.” But we’re also the ones who step in for dogs like Kenz.

Tied to a tree in the middle of a forest in Rabat, Kenz—a 14-year-old blind, deaf, mange-ridden Bichon—was left to die. A kind woman found him and begged for help. Though we’re based in Agadir, we couldn’t ignore his plea.

Thanks to your support, we brought Kenz into our shelter. Five months later, he is transformed: walking, wagging his tail, playing like he never knew abandonment. His long-distance sponsor, Dounia, calls regularly to check on him. Our team dotes on him daily. What was once seen as a lost cause is now a living, joyful soul.

And then there’s Rosza, who arrived with vaginal prolapse and was too fragile for immediate surgery. We fought with everything we had—vet consults, emergency treatment—but she sadly didn’t make it. We mourn her deeply. But her final days were not in pain or fear—they were filled with compassion, warmth, and dignity. Because even when we can’t save them, we make sure they are not alone.

This Is Why We Do What We Do

You Can Save Me Shelter exists for the ones discarded by a society that has no space for the sick, the old, or the disabled. But we believe every life deserves a chance. A soft bed. A warm meal. A name.

And with Animals First Aid standing beside us, we’ve created that chance again and again. But we cannot keep going without you.
