The sharepic features an illustration of a person. It's in black, white,
and blue. Below her portrait, her name is written in black capitalletters: Emma Goldmann. To the left, a quote from her in black
lettering: "Puritanism, in whatever form, is a poisonous germ. On the
surface, everything may appear strong and powerful, but the poison
stubbornly works its way forward until the entire structure is lost."
---- The sharepic is white, and the lettering is blue and black. At the
top, in black, it says March 30th, 5 p.m. Below that, the title of the
event is written in blue: no bad whores - just bad laws. Below that, in
black, it says: This event is free and open to everyone. It will take
place at Black Pigeon, Scharnhorststraße 50, 44147 Dortmund. Finally, in
blue capital letters, it says: "For the anarcha-queer feminist
revolution!" To the left, an anarchy symbol (circle A) can be seen.
In this series of events, we have already explored various perspectives
on sex work: What does it have to do with hostility towards sex work,
how can we decisively counter it, and how can we understand this
profession from an anarchist perspective.
At the event "No bad whores - only bad laws!" on March 30, the
S3xworkers of Cologne collective will examine sex work from a legal
perspective and demonstrate how various repressive systems of state
regulation of sex work influence the lives of sex workers. We will
explain the legal framework within which sex work currently takes place
in Germany and what s3xworkers criticize about this institutionalized
stigmatization. Following this, we will focus on the model of customer
criminalization (often called the "sex purchase ban"), which is
restricting the profession in Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Canada, Northern
Ireland, France, Ireland, and Israel, with serious consequences for sex
workers, and whose introduction is currently being debated in the German
Bundestag. Finally, we present the core of further concepts and counter
them with demands and utopian visions. One thing becomes clear: every
form of state regulation and repression makes sex work more dangerous
and hinders access to care, counseling, and protection against violence!
S3xworkers of Cologne is a Cologne-based collective in which sex workers
from various fields and gender identities organize to support each other
and fight together for their rights and concerns.
The room opens at 5:00 PM, and the event begins at 5:15 PM and is
scheduled to last approximately two hours. The event is free of charge;
there will be no food, but hot and cold drinks will be available for
purchase on site. Guests are welcome to bring their own food and drinks.
The Black Pigeon (Scharnhorststraße 50, 44147 Dortmund) is wheelchair
accessible. German will be spoken; whispered English translation is
available upon request. Please notify us in advance by email to
agdo@riseup.net. From the main train station, the venue can be reached
by subway (Hafen stop, U47 Westerfilde, or U49 Hafen).
