Help Us Bring Hope to 100s of Tanzania’s Suffering animals. |
|
|
Last month, thanks to your incredible generosity and belief in our mission, Animals First Aid in partnership with the Tanzania Animal Welfare Society (TAWESO) embarked on a mission that is already transforming lives—both animal and human—in some of the most remote and desperate corners of Tanzania.
This isn’t just an update. It’s a testament to what happens when compassion meets action. |

Rabies Vaccination in Kibaha: One Village, Hundreds of Lives Saved |
|
In Kibaha District, where rabies still claims lives far too frequently, our joint vaccination campaign launched with determination, despite torrential rains. On the very first day, 350 dogs were vaccinated. This was only the beginning. With a goal of reaching 10,000 dogs, TAWESO teams—mostly volunteers—are pushing through rain, mud, and exhaustion to prevent more deaths.
This campaign is literally saving lives—human and animal. Because when one dog is vaccinated, an entire family is protected from the unthinkable. |

The Heartbreaking Plight of Donkeys in Gold Mines |
|
In Geita, North-West Tanzania, a different kind of suffering exists—silent, relentless, and buried deep in the dust of gold mining zones. Donkeys, the unacknowledged laborers of small-scale mines, are worked to the bone hauling heavy logs and gravel. Many bear untreated wounds, are underfed, and have no access to veterinary care.
But that is changing. With your support, we’ve launched veterinary outreach clinics focused specifically on these donkeys. Our shared vision with TAWESO includes reaching over 6,000 donkeys in the region. We’re not just offering treatment—we’re restoring dignity. Through education, we’re also teaching owners humane handling, harness improvements, and even how to modify carts so that donkeys are no longer chained to the weight of pain. |

These Clinics Are the First of Their Kind—And They Need to Continue |
|
This is the first time such targeted intervention has reached these gold mine zones. These clinics are an act of mercy in a place where mercy is in short supply. And yet, more is needed. We must continue providing rabies vaccinations, tetanus protection, wound care, and humane education. Your donations have already carried this movement forward. Now, we ask for your continued support to keep it alive. |

Kato: A Symbol of Why This Work Matters |
| Amid all this, we met Kato—a four-year-old stray found in terrible condition near one of our outreach zones. He is battling advanced mange and a severe tick-borne illness that has left him anemic, weak, and in excruciating pain. His ears are infected. His urine is bloody. His body is covered in sores. And yet, somehow, he’s still fighting.
Thanks to your donations, Kato is now receiving treatment in a foster home supported by TAWESO. His recovery will take months, but your compassion has already given him what he never had before: a chance. Kato is just one of the hundreds we hope to help this year. One life. One story. But one of many. |

A Call from the Front Lines |
|
As Dr. Kahema shared in his messages: “It has been our calling to reach out to many parts of the country, though with limited resources… but thanks to you and AFA, hope has arrived.” From rabies clinics in the rain-drenched wards of Kibaha to dusty donkey clinics in the mines of Geita, your kindness has traveled further than you could imagine. But these clinics can’t run on hope alone. |

What You Can Do Right Now |
|
Please consider renewing your support today. Every $25 vaccinates a dog against rabies and recovery for a severely ill animal like Kato. Every $50 treats a wounded donkey. A gift of $100 can help us fund a full outreach day, reaching entire communities who have never seen veterinary care. Together, we can reach the unreachable.
Together, we are building a future where no animal is forgotten. |
