Mangled, Abandoned, and Still Holding On: Asha’s Cry for Mercy! |
|
|
In the dusty alleys of Agadir, Morocco, an injured dog lay trembling, her hind leg ripped open and flesh exposed. Asha, as we now call her, had been struck by a vehicle and left in agony, her wound festering in the heat. For days, she suffered silently. No help came. No food, no shelter, no mercy.
Until Michelle from Sunshine Animal Refuge Agadir (SARA) arrived. Asha didn’t bark or whimper. She simply looked up with hollow eyes, and her body slumped from exhaustion as Michelle knelt beside her. It was a look of pure surrender. That moment broke us. But it also reminded us why we fight so hard in this brutal landscape. |

Just as Michelle was transporting Asha to safety, another call came in. A tiny puppy had been dumped at the city pound. Filthy, frightened, and too young to survive such a place, he was destined for death. When Michelle went to rescue him, she discovered a heartbreaking twist—he had not come alone.
He had arrived with four of his siblings. Five puppies, abandoned. Five vulnerable lives thrown away like trash. There was no hesitation. Michelle took them all. |

SARA: A Sanctuary of Last Chances |
|
These animals are just three of the countless lives saved every week by SARA. With over 900 dogs, 200 cats, and 8 equines, SARA is a refuge in the truest sense of the word. Led by Michelle, whose tireless work has become a beacon of hope in Morocco, SARA rescues the abandoned, the abused, the unwanted.
Animals First Aid has partnered with SARA since the very beginning. It is our longest-standing alliance, and one of our proudest. Michelle’s compassion knows no boundaries. Whether it’s a dog like Teddy, whose legs were severed and who now walks again thanks to your support, or a donkey like Hazel, who is learning to thrive on three legs, SARA makes the impossible possible. |

The Urgency Is Real. Asha Needs Surgery. The Puppies Need Shelter. |
|
Luc, right now, Asha’s wound is dangerously infected. Her surgery is estimated to cost $1200, but time is running out. Every hour we delay could mean the difference between life and death.
The five puppies rescued from the pound need vaccinations, food, parasite treatment, and a safe space to grow strong. Just $25 can help feed and treat one puppy for a week. $100 could cover a round of essential veterinary care. $300 helps keep one of SARA’s kennels running for a month.
Every animal brought to SARA gets a chance at life and love. Many go on to find forever homes, not just in Morocco, but abroad—in places like the United Kingdom, where they’re welcomed by families who see their worth. |

This Is a Cry for Help. For Asha. For the Puppies. For Morocco’s Forgotten. |
| Asha still cannot walk. Her eyes still hold pain. But beneath the trauma, we see flickers of hope. The puppies still huddle together at night, their tiny bodies seeking warmth. They deserve the chance to grow up. They deserve a future.
We are asking you today—please, don’t turn away. Your donation could save Asha. It could give five puppies a life they never thought possible. It could sustain SARA as they battle Morocco’s heartbreaking cycle of abandonment and cruelty. |
