A counter-prayer resounds against the parasites of thought and the
torturers of being: "Neither God nor master!" Some would say that
anarchists are being embarrassed by appropriating Blanqui's "motto." He
was certainly a sincere and zealous socialist, but of an "authoritarian"
persuasion: a rabid avant-garde, a supporter of "strict military
discipline" and "revolutionary dictatorship," and a critic of the
socio-economic perspectives of Proudhon and Bakunin... Come on? That's
bold! So, have anarchists "usurped" the motto? I couldn't say. The
aphorism "Neither God nor master" now clings to the libertarian
movement. But who else, among the "socialist" movements, could still
dare to use the motto? I wonder... Are the social democrats, lackeys of
the "welfare state," bigots of a salutary "reformism"? The motley
collection of Marxists of all stripes, subject to the reign of the
saving "Party," devotees of a mystical "historical materialism"?
No. Let it be said, only the libertarian movement can worthily chant
Blanqui's burning motto. Ignoring sociopolitical differences, let's
simply give "The Locked-Up" the credit he deserves. That of having
found, with precision and concision, these few words that hit where the
shoe pinches: obscurantism and authoritarianism.
Because to the cruel enslavement that the zealots of the "gods" and the
minions of the "masters" of all stripes want to impose on us, we will
again and again oppose education and emancipation, so that an atheistic
and libertarian humanism may live!
Moreover, since for us "everything belongs to everyone," we are truly
not stingy: we share this motto quite willingly-freely, with whoever
wants it, with whoever thinks it... really thinks it! And, we certainly
won't be the ones claiming private ownership of it... And even less so
the Blanquists, of what's left of it!
