drivers, the universal application of Law 4611/2019, the guarantee of
full insurance and wage rights to distributors working in platform
companies, etc. The May 8 strike is the first nationwide strike called
by the motorcycle workers' sector and is the continuation of a long and
continuous struggle of workers for the working conditions of their
sector. A struggle that has achieved significant victories over the
years and continues to raise the issues of the precarious express
delivery sector before the employer and the state in collective terms of
claim.

The working conditions in the motorcycle drivers' sector as well as the
prevailing medieval labor regime have led hundreds of distributors to
physical and mental annihilation. The devaluation of work and the daily
intimidation by all kinds of bosses, whether small or large, have caused
people who fight for a daily wage on two wheels to have their lives
become a "scooter" with the complete deregulation of labor conditions
and relations. This condition, especially with regard to distributors,
has been contributed to in recent years by the labor regime of platform
companies (e.g. efood, wolt) and the freelance work that has prevailed
in them with the simultaneous reduction of labor rights (insurance
provision, coverage in the event of an industrial accident, deregulation
of working hours, etc.) and the intensification of work (long distances,
hunting for more orders, etc.).

Within these exhausting working conditions, workers in the motorcycle
driving sector are also faced with the great danger of their profession.
There are not a few times when workers, distributors, couriers, etc.,
have been injured or even killed while working. The inadequate
protection measures that employers usually do not provide as they
should, the pressure for greater efficiency from the employer, working
under adverse weather conditions on the road, as well as the
dangerousness of Greek roads, compose a scenario where motorcycle
workers risk their lives and physical integrity every day.

However, life and dignity should not be left to chance and in the hands
of every predatory boss but should be conquered through collective class
struggles. Since 2007, with the establishment of the SVEOD, workers in
the distribution sector have become stronger and the conquests of the
workers themselves speak for themselves. From the series of victorious
struggles against the e-food employer, the conquest of the law 4611/2019
to a series of victorious struggles against the employer arbitrariness
of small and large bosses in the sector, distributors have managed to
prevent the bosses from "playing ball" alone.

But that is not enough! In order for the struggles to be successful,
they need continuity, upgrading, constant vigilance for the
implementation of workers' conquests in practice, as well as the support
of all workers in the sector. We stand by the workers of
distributors-couriers and external workers and support their just
demands until their victory

. We stand by every social and class struggle until the exploitation of
man by man ceases.
