On May 15, 1948, a day that has gone down in history as the Nakba, the
great uprooting of the Palestinian people from their historical lands
began, just one day after the declaration of the independence of the
Israeli state. During these 77 years, the Israeli state managed to build
modern Apartheid, that is, the systematic exclusion of Palestinians in
the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. It managed, through the normalization
of terror, to apply generalized conditions of control, militarization
and oppression, constituting a true model of a modern totalitarian
regime. From the embargo on Gaza and the wall that surrounds it, the ban
on movement and military checkpoints, the destruction of entire areas
and their colonization by Israelis, to the brutal repression and
continuous bombing, the numerous arrests, imprisonments and murders.
The state of Israel is a model of militarization and imposition, a death
machine that has been attacking the Palestinians for years in order to
subjugate them so that they accept the military occupation that they
resist with enormous self-denial. A state that has key allies in its
pursuits the leading powers of the Western power bloc that are
attempting to extend their power and interests in the wider Middle East.
In this context, the Greek state - fully tied to the Western chariot of
sovereignty - is attempting to further develop its cooperative relations
with the state of Israel through a series of strategic energy, military
and economic agreements.
Since October 7, 2023, after the attack by Palestinian organizations,
Israeli forces have been audaciously propagandizing the sweeping
military operation to expel and annihilate the Palestinians as a right
to self-defense. The air strikes and then the ground invasion of Gaza -
one of the most densely populated areas on the planet, already dominated
by deprivation and poverty due to the embargo imposed by the State of
Israel since 2007 - have resulted in the killing of more than 60,000
Palestinians, including more than 18,000 children, the injury of more
than 120,000 people, the destruction of buildings, hospitals, schools,
houses, roads, water supply and sanitation infrastructure, the lack of
electricity and fuel necessary for agricultural food production, the
complete deprivation of drinking water and the supply of food and
medical supplies. Meanwhile, in the West Bank, murderous pogroms,
persecutions, beatings and dismissals of Palestinians are taking place.
These days we are facing a new climax of the attempted extermination and
genocide of the Palestinian people. The state of Israel on March 18,
2025 broke the ceasefire that had been agreed upon, escalating its
murderous fury, with continuous attacks on and generalized conditions of
starvation in the Gaza Strip and the imposition of terror in the West
Bank. In the Gaza Strip, 98% of the population is facing a lack of food,
the amount of drinking water per person has decreased by 99%, while 70%
of international humanitarian missions have been prevented and banned by
Israel, a typical example being the strike on a ship - a solidarity
mission by two Israeli drones in international waters near Malta. The
Freedom Flotilla was intended to break the blockade imposed by the state
of Israel on the Gaza Strip and deliver humanitarian aid to the people
of Palestine.
This is a genocide carried out by an alliance of Western states, whose
lukewarm "humanitarian" statements simply confirm their consent and
support for Israel's operations, while at the same time maintaining
political and economic agreements between them, while attacking
solidarity demonstrations taking place around the world and
criminalizing the symbols of the Palestinian people, proclaiming that in
the world of the state and capitalism, there is only one "justice." That
of the strong, which is imposed on the weak by force. Within this
context, both in the US and in Europe, states are attacking those who
struggle against the atrocity that is unfolding before the eyes of the
entire world. Despite state repression, the resistance that is being
demonstrated is preserving human dignity against the ongoing genocide of
a people, against the blatant distortion of reality, of their words and
meanings, of history, against the silence that the same states that
allow this historical crime to be committed are attempting to impose
within themselves through force.
We, for our part, cannot but stand in solidarity with the Palestinian
people who continue to fight hard and persistently for their survival,
dignity and freedom with their only allies the fighters throughout the
world. We want to highlight these elements of their struggle as
anarchists, the ability of the conquered to counterattack the
all-powerful conqueror, the ability of the poor and the excluded to
rebel even under the most barbaric conditions. We want international
solidarity to create rifts within the attacking sovereigns by bringing
to the fore our own history, the history of the struggles of those from
below who, against all times, create the living reality of freedom and
solidarity, constituting the only real bulwark against the onslaught of
modern totalitarianism. Until the total liberation of the peoples from
nations, religions, racism and intolerance.
