Francesco Attaguile is a long-standing Christian Democrat politician.
For many years he was responsible for international relations for theSicilian Region. On April 14, he wrote an article for "La Sicilia" in
which he made some revelations that confirm what we have always been
writing about the fact that the military option has eliminated every way
for the island to take off economically. ---- In 2010-11, the Region -
Lombardo government - signed at its headquarters in Rome a vast
memorandum of understanding with the China Development Bank concerning
ten important Sicilian infrastructures that the Chinese would finance,
later included in the agenda of President Hu Jintao during his visit to
Rome. In the fall of 2011, however, in a meeting between the US
Secretary of State - Obama government - Hilary Clinton and the Minister
of Foreign Affairs Frattini, the USA "placed an absolute
political-strategic precondition for the concretization of the role of
Sicily as a European platform towards the new poles of the globalized
world and in particular on the 'Silk Road'. The island was to remain
only the base for the American planes and drones of Sigonella and to
host without compensation one of the 4 control centers of world
communications, the Muos of Niscemi ('a non-negotiable issue', as the US
ambassador Thorne, who came to Palermo specifically in 2011, brutally
warned me)".
According to new sources in our possession, the ambassador - less likely
the consul - returned to Palermo a year later to impose his diktat on
the government of Rosario Crocetta, who not by chance justified his
lowering of his pants on the Muos by speaking of "blackmail".
The American mortgage of war and death has affected Sicily and the right
of Sicilians to a minimum of well-being. And it continues to do so.
