The Housing and Urban Development Company of the State of São Paulo
(CDHU), under the orders of the Tarcísio government, has long been
waging a campaign of terror against residents, forcing an absurd term
that aims to exchange people's homes for a debt. In exchange for their
homes, built more than a generation ago, the CDHU offers financing for
the purchase of unaffordable properties to residents (many of whom earn
less than the minimum wage), which is intended to be spent on
government-friendly construction companies. What was supposed to be an
institution linked to the right to housing is being used as a tool for
expulsion and a coup against people. The strong interest of real estate
capital in the region has led to repeated intimidation and coercion by
the state government, which uses the police to invade and intimidate
residents on a daily basis. The Lula government washes its hands of the
violence against Moinho, even though it is an area under federal
responsibility. Its silence is complicity in the social cleansing
imposed by Tarcísio and his allies. Tarcísio's strategy has been to make
life in Moinho unbearable due to such violence. It is no coincidence
that many people who have already left the favela report that their
greatest motivation was fear, for their lives and those of their
families. On the governor's leash is the criminal Guilherme Derrite,
Secretary of Public Security and perpetrator of the wave of police
violence that is affecting the outskirts of São Paulo.

To the residents, all our solidarity and company in the fight! Against
police terror and the expulsion promoted by capital, only the
independent organization of the working class can stop the destruction
of life in the city center.
