On July 29, a terrifying 8.8-magnitude earthquake off Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula triggered tsunami warnings across the entire Hawaiian Islands. Sirens screamed. Highways clogged with cars. Emergency shelters opened their doors. And in the chaos—too many animals were left behind. We’re hearing stories of dogs tied up in backyards, cats scattered in panic, and terrified animals stranded in homes now threatened by unpredictable surges. Shelters are overwhelmed. Evacuated families are desperate for updates on their beloved pets. Horses, goats, and livestock were abandoned in coastal paddocks as families fled inland.
