While the international political situation monopolizes public attention
due to the growing dangers of a nuclear war, the country's internalpolitics languishes after the referendum shock whose echoes, albeit
faint, have already died down. Now the attention of the political forces
seems to be entirely focused on preparing for the next electoral
deadlines constituted by the regional elections, while the debate on the
third mandate of the regional presidents rears its head again,
disrupting the game, which would reopen many games and would
significantly influence the choices of the candidates at least in
Veneto, Campania and Puglia.
Everything seems to suggest that the centre-left parties will present
unitary candidacies in all the Regions with the support of the centrist
bushes, which should leave the government of the Regions to the
centre-left, if we exclude Veneto, the only contestable region, whose
fate depends on the presence of a re-candidacy of Zaia. This apparently
stable situation, although not devoid of the traditional and recurring
contrasts and controversies between PD and 5 Star for the leadership of
the alliance, cannot ignore in the PD camp the calling and holding of a
Congress that cannot be a ritual deadline, since Schlein's leadership
requires a verification that passes through the redefinition of the
party's political line on many crucial issues and this also in order to
develop a credible program that is able to allow the coalition to
represent a real alternative government in front of the voters. To
outline it, it is not enough to reiterate the need to solve the problem
of waiting lists in healthcare or to further finance the increasingly
crisis-ridden healthcare system; it is not enough to support the need to
find resources for education and school, for professional
requalification; it is not enough to find the resources to increase
wages in order to allow minimally dignified living conditions; it is not
enough to defend work and life in the workplace; It is not enough to
defend the rights of the individual, but it is also necessary to have a
credible position in the face of the country's international
positioning, since the ability of the economy to function depends on
this, as do the development prospects of Italian society, the very
stability of the social structure called upon to face the problem of the
demographic crisis and at the same time the deterioration of the
traditional production model in the face of the challenges represented
by the introduction of artificial intelligence and new systems of work
and production organization into the world of work. The country cannot
live by basing its economy on tourism and relying on a return of
currency capable of supporting a society in which the social elevator
does not exist, in a static society, which offers no prospect of future
life, in a society increasingly poor in initiatives and innovation, in a
society increasingly repressive and backward in customs, in social
relations, in the distribution of wealth, increasingly unequal, called
upon to manage a segment of structural poor equal to 40% of the
population, while 5% of it continues to accumulate wealth and
well-being, power and domination, the name of an increasingly privileged
class position, in a situation aggravated by the growing winds of war
and the increasingly real prospect of a call to arms of the young
generations, increasingly meager and small in numbers and in the will to
go down on the battlefield.
In particular, this last problem imposes itself as decisive in the face
of the launch of rearmament policies and the prospect of reintroducing
compulsory military service, a precursor to the possibilities of being
employed in a war that would be devastating.
The international question
The problem of the profound revision of international politics is at
this point crucial and strategic to define for the Democratic Party as
for all reformist parties their future, in the face of the alternative
of power management represented by a right that has proven to be able to
better tune into the desires of the populations and more capable of
gathering the appeal for peace that comes above all from the European
peoples. The position on rearmament and war is a watershed in the
ability of reformist parties to recover a positive relationship and
effective representation of their electorate, because siding with war is
seen as a profound betrayal of the fundamental interests of the less
well-off classes, called to pay the price of the war effort in person
both through the material damage suffered, but even more through direct
commitment to war action that leads to death and the loss of any
prospect of a dignified life. In light of these considerations, it
becomes a priority that a party of the left, even if reformist, if it
wants to be such and represent at least in part the interests of the
class, must free itself of those political subjects that at different
levels crowd political representation in Parliament as in community
bodies, declaring the incompatibility of these subjects with the
representation of their interests. This means that we need to
politically execute the various, many Picierno, Bonaccini, Gentiloni,
Gori, Draghi, Letta, Monti, just to name a few, with the discrimination
of their warmongering choices, understanding that the choice of peace
and coexistence between peoples is preparatory to the acceptance of the
political candidacy of anyone who wants to take care of protecting
public interests. The necessary cleansing begins by getting rid of the
scum that pollutes the body of the party, the institutions, politics, so
as to be able to rediscover and defend the genuine interests of the
population from those who want to push humanity towards a future of war,
destruction, death.
