The specter of global war continues to loom over the Middle East. The
criminal attack carried out for twelve days by the Israeli regime,supported by the United States, in violation of every rule of so-called
international law, has attacked and severely damaged Iran, giving a
strong impetus to the unleashing of other conflicts of greater intensity
in the future. The targeted assassinations of the military and
institutional leaders of the Iranian theocratic state, the bombing of
nuclear sites, industrial plants and oil facilities, and residential
buildings, the evacuation of a huge city like Tehran, whose population
exceeds that of the entire State of Israel (which has raised fears of
the use of tactical atomic bombs in Israel's possession), relegates the
pro-Nazi Israeli government to the ranks of the worst criminal regimes
in history.
For over a year and a half now, we have witnessed the extermination of
the population and the systematic destruction of every building in the
Gaza Strip, making the Netanyahu government the closest heir to those
responsible for the Jewish Holocaust during World War II. Whatever the
initial pretext, the disproportionate Israeli response, the
indiscriminate bombings resulting in the massacre of civilians, mostly
children, the blockade of food aid, the destruction of hospitals, the
torture and humiliation inflicted on the population, the plans for
permanent occupation and deportation, and the simultaneous and
bandit-like colonization of the West Bank, all of these are part of a
general plan to conquer and annex Palestinian territories, through
ongoing ethnic cleansing. This plan, from the very beginning, has been
the foundation of the State of Israel, the quintessential nation-state
that anarchists have always repudiated, exposing its most harmful and
inhumane aspects. The State of Israel breeds hatred, war, and death; It
knows no bounds and has long been recklessly targeting, in addition to
the Palestinian territories, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, Iraq, and even Iran.
The Iranian state's massive and forceful response, launching hundreds of
missiles into Israeli territory, particularly the cities of Haifa,
Jerusalem, and Tel Aviv, has raised fears that the ongoing conflict
could escalate to such a degree that it would lead other Muslim states
in the region (from Turkey to Pakistan, from Iraq to the former Soviet
republics), which have declared solidarity with Iran, to lend militarily
support, opening up an even darker scenario.
Israel's total impunity has thus far been possible only thanks to the
unconditional support of the United States, the indolence of some Arab
regimes, and the shameful behavior of Europe. The Italian government, in
particular, has justified yet another war unleashed by pro-Nazi Israelis
with the bifurcated statements of Foreign Minister Tajani, aligned with
the warmongering theses of the Trump administration (which, by
intervening with targeted bombings, declared its intention to force the
Iranians to give up the nuclear bomb they didn't possess, but now truly
wish they had!), and with the broadcasts of TeleMeloni (RAI 1), which
broadcasts Israeli government press releases. The US administration, in
particular, while using carrots and sticks to intervene at discretion in
ongoing conflicts, is actually preparing a global war to reestablish its
imperial control over the planet: it is preparing war against China
while attacking Iran through Israel.
The evidence of what is happening demands that civil society worldwide,
and anarchist militants, take immediate action to oppose the triumph of
Nazi barbarism and the militaristic ideology that sustains it. The
solidarity between states, which has thus far allowed Israel to continue
its crimes, must be countered by internationalist solidarity among
oppressed peoples. To this end, the many streams of protest that are
daily silenced by the regime's mass media should be unified into a
common strategic proposal. These streams, by distorting reality, create
an atmosphere of widespread impotence that seems to paralyze, or retreat
into exclusively institutional and diplomatic channels-which have proven
truly ineffective-every opposition to Israeli wars and tyranny.
On August 2nd, we will return to demonstrate in Niscemi against the wars
unleashed by Israel and the United States, against the possible
involvement of American military bases in Sicily, against the rearmament
policies of NATO and the European Union, and in support of deserters and
conscientious objectors. We call upon all those in Sicily who reject
armaments and war.
But the mobilization must continue and become more radical, spreading
throughout Italy, involving as many people as possible, aiming to
deprive the Israeli murderers and their accomplices of any space for
action and action, to harass them through occupations, boycotts, and
sabotage, to apply pressure to indefinitely close all embassies,
consular offices, diplomatic and commercial agencies linked to the State
of Israel, to terminate contracts and agreements for supply and economic
and military exchange with it, and to permanently halt the circulation
of blood-stained Israeli goods and capital.
Alongside this, we must now concretely advance and support the idea of
rebuilding from the bottom up, free from state tutelage and oppression,
strong, secular Middle Eastern societies, free from the blackmail of
religious fundamentalism and autocratic apparatuses, inspired by mutual
respect, and confederated among themselves, according to an
internationalist and libertarian tradition that is laboriously
re-emerging throughout the region, and within Israel itself.
