That’s what Nina saw when she visited the Lanseria Main feral colony. At first, she hoped it was just a sprain. But by Sunday, Huey could barely walk. He was hunched in the bushes, his eyes pleading. Most live unseen — until they’re too sick to move or multiply into a colony no one knows how to handle. Sterilization is the only humane solution. But the reality is brutal: less than 1 in 20 feral cats are sterilized, and the few who receive care are lucky if they even get food. Their cats were multiplying, and they had no means to stop it. Thanks to your donations, both parents were sterilized and treated, two kittens were surrendered and rehomed, and the third is awaiting surgery. At Leratong Hospital, a colony had spiraled out of control. The kind elderly doctor feeding them was desperate. With help from Tiny Whiskers Kitten Rescue, we trapped seven adults — one had to be humanely euthanized due to liver failure. Seven kittens were rescued, all now in foster care. And then there’s Huey. Injured and in pain, this gentle colony cat is now recovering, thanks to Nina and emergency funds provided through our appeals. Kindly contribute by making a donation today!
