(Position of organized anarchism in Argentina - June 2025) ---- Recent
events, which include decisions by the judiciary and changes in thestructures of the state's repressive forces, constitute a new
anti-democratic advance by the most concentrated and pro-imperialist
sectors of the economy to seize more power, which only means more
suffering and exploitation for those at the bottom. ---- The growing
political operation of the judiciary's leadership, which has intensified
in recent days, is a new example of the rise of authoritarianism that is
also framed within disputes between factions of traditional politics,
confrontations between sectors of power that, although they present
themselves as antagonistic and with nuances of a social model, coincide
in upholding the pillars of the neoliberal project of domination.
The recent Supreme Court ruling, which left CFK's conviction final, did
not come in a vacuum. What it reveals is a web of disputes at the top
where the judiciary takes on an increasingly evident political function.
Not only through interventions that resolve disputes at the top, but
also in its role as a disciplinary agent within the traditional
political sphere, but also within other branches of the state.
In this sense, while its actions structurally respond to the interests
of the ruling classes, its relationship with power is neither linear nor
simple. In retrospect, the same judicial apparatus that guarantees
impunity to repressors, businessmen, and politicians was also
instrumental in many of the setbacks faced by the executive branch of
Javier Milei's government.
Even those DNU and articles of the truncated Ley Bases (Bases Law) that
targeted basic labor rights were defeated by a combination of factors,
such as expressions of popular resistance and interventions by isolated
sectors of the judiciary. But the latter should not be confused with a
defense of the interests of those at the bottom, but rather with
internal power struggles, where certain sectors of the judicial system
decide to set limits.
Faced with this increasingly pressing reality for those at the bottom,
union and grassroots organizations cannot follow any party, nor expect
anything from an electoral system that is exhausted and has shown
countless signs of being unable-or unwilling-to resolve the demands of
those most in need. Therefore, it is essential to strengthen the
resistance and unity of those at the bottom, resuming our agenda of
struggle, which was not resolved with any candidacy, including
Cristina's as a provincial representative for the province of Buenos
Aires. We must continue fighting to reverse the troubling reality of
workers who see historic gains of the working class in danger.
All of this is driven by a government that uses anti-worker and
anti-popular decrees, shielded by systematic and brutal repression of
all demonstrations and militant actions, such as the Wednesday protests
of retirees and other sectors, which it seeks to discipline through the
imposition of laws and reforms, such as the recently announced
reorganization of the federal police as a copy of the FBI, which will be
dedicated to pursuing on the streets and social media anyone who
criticizes and is willing to fight to uphold the historic demands of the
working class and who, from now on, could be arrested without a court order.
A clear example of this is the arrest and judicial persecution of the
five teachers and public employees in the province of Santa Fe, the
hundreds of people arrested on Wednesdays during the retirees' march in
Buenos Aires, the two environmentalists arrested in Mendoza, the two
students recently arrested in Rosario, the seven radical activists
arrested in Buenos Aires, and the recent arrest of Jones Huala, all
victims of this reactionary advance in which those of us at the bottom
are the main target for discipline and subjugation.
Given this situation, we know that some comrades we meet in the daily
struggle still have a remote hope for a solution through elections.
However, our working hypothesis tells us that no solution to the
problems of those at the bottom will come from this.
In this context, we urgently need to unite around all our
organizations-social, union, and grassroots-to continue advancing the
struggle and resistance in clear and solid defense of the gains and
freedoms we have won. Against the loss of jobs in the maritime and port
sector, the result of the deregulation of trade and navigation; against
the depletion and wave of layoffs in the metalworking and automotive
sectors (as has happened in Tierra del Fuego, Córdoba, Rosario, Villa
Constitución, and Buenos Aires); against the depletion, defunding, and
layoffs in public hospitals and healthcare facilities throughout the
country, affecting access to healthcare for the most vulnerable sectors,
whose epicenter is the struggle of Garrahan and PAMI. The defense of the
collective bargaining agreements without a ceiling is vital, as they are
unable to cover their basic needs. In this calamitous reality, the
demand for medication coverage for the elderly or the fight for food
supplies to reach the soup kitchens represents the difference between
life and a slow death. The articulation of the struggle is imperative to
resist such a scythe blow to the interests of those at the bottom.
Beyond this urgent agenda, we anarchists are clear about one thing in
this scenario of capitalist barbarism. It is that the management of
society, industries, services, the public sector, and other strategic
and vital sectors of society have failed at the hands of current
politicians and businessmen, leaving a trail of impoverished people and
an unprecedented economic and social deficit for those at the bottom.
This is why we strive and do not cease the struggle for a new world, for
a social revolution that will lead to a society managed by the popular
sectors themselves.
