Franklin Sepulveda is the NYPD lead officer in charge of traffic enforcement, a 38-year veteran of the department with a near-$200,000 salary.
He’s also under investigation for an incident at odds with his law-and-order job: Sepulveda allegedly sideswiped a parked car with his police vehicle, fled the scene and then instructed an employee who noticed the damage to file a false report about the incident, according to sources familiar with the probe.
“He’s in a lot of trouble,” a senior NYPD source said. “It’s a serious case.”
Sepulveda has a history of disciplining subordinates for crashes. Remarked a union rep: “This is amazing how the same person who implements penalties against my members can walk away and not report it.”
