🎷 Bonjour à Toots ! Cette semaine dans notre petit refuge du swing, venez vous évader le temps d’une soirée ! Notre tournois de Blitz du mardi, comme chaque mardi donc… à 19h30 ! Mercredi, c’est notre directeur artistique qui ouvre la jam avec un invité spécial : Martin Méreau au vibraphone. Jeudi, après notre piano bar assuré par Tomas Rivera, c’est un jeune talent anversois, le trompettiste Seba Colson, qui vous a préparé un répertoire bien be-bop et hard-bop, avec une équipe de jeunes loups à découvrir d’urgence. Week-end à thème ensuite, avec un vendredi dédié au jazz manouche, où l’on reçoit un des tout grands maîtres du genre : le virtuose Mayo Hubert. Il est très rarement en Belgique, et un petit tour sur YouTube suffira à vous convaincre du talent du musicien manouche. Il sera accompagné de son cousin Antoni Djino à la guitare rythmique, du génial Alexandre Cavalière au violon et de Victor Foulon à la contrebasse. Samedi, votre rendez-vous mensuel avec le Brussels Rhythm’n Blues Club, qui accueille le groupe soul, funk et rhythm’n blues breton Gemma and the Travellers. La soirée sera ouverte par Midnight Mary et se poursuivra dans la nuit avec la jam blues animée par Roman. Dimanche, pour notre série “Nostalgia In Grand Place”, c’est le superbe pianiste Pascal Mohy qui invite Timothé Lemaire et Sam Gerstmans à rendre hommage au génie de Duke Ellington. Et attention, lundi 13, ouverture spéciale du club pour le deuxième concert de Rotem Sivan, virtuose new-yorkais de la guitare — à ne pas manquer une deuxième fois ! Woensdag opent onze artistiek directeur de jam, samen met speciale gast Martin Méreau op vibrafoon. Donderdag beginnen we met onze pianobar met Tomas Rivera, gevolgd door jong Antwerps talent Seba Colson op trompet. Hij brengt een energiek be-bop en hard-bop repertoire met een bende jonge wolven die je absoluut moet ontdekken. Het weekend staat in het teken van de gipsyjazz op vrijdag, met een van de grote meesters van het genre: de virtuoze Mayo Hubert. Hij speelt zelden in België, en een kort bezoek aan YouTube volstaat om zijn talent te ontdekken. Hij wordt vergezeld door zijn neef Antoni Djino op ritmegitaar, de briljante Alexandre Cavalière op viool en Victor Foulon op contrabas. Zaterdag is het tijd voor het maandelijkse Brussels Rhythm’n Blues Club, met de soul-, funk- en rhythm’n-bluesband Gemma and the Travellers. De avond wordt geopend door Midnight Mary en gaat verder met de Blues Jam onder leiding van Roman. Zondag, voor onze reeks “Nostalgia In Grand Place”, nodigt pianist Pascal Mohy Timothé Lemaire en Sam Gerstmans uit voor een eerbetoon aan het genie van Duke Ellington. En let op: maandag 13 november zijn we uitzonderlijk open voor het tweede concert van de New Yorkse gitaarvirtuoos Rotem Sivan — een kans die je niet twee keer wilt missen! Hello from Toots! This week in our little swing refuge, come and escape for an evening or two! Our Tuesday Blitz tournament — well, as every Tuesday, obviously… kicks off at 7:30 PM! On Wednesday, our artistic director opens the jam session, joined by a special guest: Martin Méreau on vibraphone. Thursday starts with our piano bar, hosted by Tomas Rivera, followed by a rising star from Antwerp — trumpeter Seba Colson — bringing a fiery be-bop and hard-bop set with a band of young wolves you’ll want to discover right away. The weekend kicks off with a Friday dedicated to gypsy jazz, featuring one of the great masters of the genre, the virtuoso Mayo Hubert. He rarely performs in Belgium, and a quick look on YouTube will be enough to convince you of his talent. He’ll be joined by his cousin Antoni Djino on rhythm guitar, the brilliant Alexandre Cavalière on violin and Victor Foulon on double bass. Saturday brings your monthly date with the Brussels Rhythm’n Blues Club, hosting the soul, funk and rhythm’n blues band Gemma and the Travellers. The evening opens with Midnight Mary, and continues into the night with the Blues Jam led by Roman. On Sunday, for our “Nostalgia In Grand Place” series, the superb pianist Pascal Mohy invites Timothé Lemaire and Sam Gerstmans for a heartfelt tribute to the genius of Duke Ellington. And don’t miss our special opening on Monday the 13th — for the second concert by New York guitar virtuoso Rotem Sivan. If you missed him the first time, don’t make the same mistake twice!

Seba Colson Quintet - Bop jeudi 9 octobre - 21:00 Seba Colson (tp) ; Nero Vergaet (sax) ; Milan Verbist (p) ; Toon Rumen (b) ; Robbe Broeckx (dr) Among young Belgian trumpet players, Seba Colson stands out for his love and mastery of the bebop and hard bop language. Surrounded by a band of fiery young talents, he takes you straight back to the clubs of the 1950s, when Lee Morgan, Kenny Dorham, Clifford Brown, Donald Byrd, and a young Freddie Hubbard were pushing the trumpet into uncharted territory. Gypsy Jazz Night : Mayo Hubert - GYPSY JAZZ STAR vendredi 10 octobre - 19:30 and 21:30 Mayo Hubert (g) ; Antoni Djino (g) ; Alexandre Cavalière (vl) ; Victor Foulon (b) Mayo Hubert is one of the great masters of gypsy guitar. A pupil and heir of Tchavolo Schmitt, he stands out as a brilliant soloist – a true force to be reckoned with. He joins us to open our first gypsy jazz evening of the season: a real pleasure to welcome him as he recreates the atmosphere of the Parisian Hot Clubs of the 1940s, keeping alive, with undiminished passion and enthusiasm, the spirit of the great Django Reinhardt. Gemma & The Travellers - Vocal Blues/Soul/Funk samedi 11 octobre - 20:30 Gemma Marchi (voc); Philip Petersson (g); Guillaume Vogt (b); Alan Beckman (d) BRBC is delighted to welcome back funky soul band Gemma & The Travellers from Brittany. The band gives a nod to the early deep Soul, R&B, Northern Soul and Funk of the 60s but their unique songwriting gives a refreshing twist. Inspired by the likes of Dusty Springfield, Julie Driscoll, Etta James and Aretha Franklin, Gemma has a powerful and immediately recognisable voice with personality. BRBC houseband Midnight Mary will open the concert. More info

Nostalgia In Grand Place : Duke Ellington - Tribute dimanche 12 octobre - 16:00 Pascal Mohy (p) ; Timothé Lemaire (trb) ; Sam Gerstmans (b) At the very top of the pantheon of jazz composers stands Duke Ellington. His big band remains the ultimate reference: he laid the foundations for everything that followed in the genre, creating his own style and leaving an indelible mark on the repertoire with more than 1,000 original compositions and contributions as co-signer or arranger to over 2,000 others. He is, without question, the most prolific jazz musician in history. The strength of his melodies allows this unique formation to pay tribute today: the warm trombone sound of Timothé Lemaire, the harmonic elegance and unmistakable swing of Pascal Mohy, and the virtuosic foundation of Sam Gerstmans come together to celebrate the master’s legacy.
