WORLD WORLDWIDE EUROPE CZECH - news journal UPDATE - news journal UPDATE - (en) Czech, Ostravska, OAF: Moments are lying, as if Reflex is printing (ca, de, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

We bring a brief reflection on the political strategy of Million Moments
for Democracy. ---- On August 27, the Million Moments for Democracy
association published an interesting post on its FB profile. It
literally states: "There are several politicians who would be pleased if
you did not come to vote in October. But we must not be discouraged!"
Below the text are photos of several chairmen and chairwomen of
opposition political parties with their alleged quotes. For example,
Filip Turek allegedly said that "elections are overrated. You are better
off engaging in ideological collecting."

This surprised us. Why would the Motorists, of whom Turek is the
election leader, question the vote when every vote is desperately needed
to reach the five percent threshold for entering the Chamber of
Deputies? Why would Andrej Babish, who otherwise strongly encourages
voting, suddenly recommend a "trip to some nice resort" instead of the
elections? In many photo collages, the call to boycott the elections
looked more like a paraphrase. But still. That opposition politicians
would suddenly become anarchists? Moreover, the electorate of Stacilo!,
SPD, Motoristu and ANO is recruited more from disappointed and
frustrated voters who often resign from politics altogether. Why would
the leaders of these parties betray voters from the elections? So we
took the trouble to try to find out in what context the aforementioned
politicians meant it.

First, we approached the association Million Moments for Democracy
itself to provide us with the source of their quotes or paraphrases, but
we did not get an answer there. So we tried to search on the Internet or
with the help of artificial intelligence, but we were not very
successful there either. A call for non-participation in the election
from the political opposition, that would be a great topic for current
pro-government journalists, we thought. How is it possible that there is
not even a comma about it anywhere?

The reason is simple - the Milion Chvilek association is simply
disinforming. In a holy war, the goal of which is (again and again) to
"prevent communists from coming to power", all means are apparently
permitted, including lying. Let's imagine that Andrej Babish created a
photo collage of Zelensky saluting in a brown uniform with a call for
the denazification of Ukraine. Excuses that this is exaggeration, satire
or paraphrase would not help him and Babish would be subjected to a
heavy media lynching. How is it possible that Chvilkare gets away with
spreading disinformation without any problems? A photo of Katerina
Konecná with a National Front ticket evoking a one-party government may
be a funny meme, but by presenting false information, the movement will
be doing a disservice to Fialov's government.

In the end, the winners of the elections will once again be anarchists,
who will laugh at how the leaders of political parties are arguing about
who is more moral, but in reality, they are all liars.
