 The digital daily Analyse Opinion Critique (AOC), founded in 2018, had

the brilliant idea this year to publish a quarterly print issue, sold at
newsstands and bookstores, which brings together a series of articles on
a given theme. After the first spring issue devoted to artificial
intelligence, the summer issue focuses on fascism in its current forms,
hence the somewhat catchy title "Fascism 2.0." It offers 22
contributions on the theme, written by researchers in the humanities and
social sciences, as well as by two journalists and a writer[1]. The
texts are not new: they were already published in the digital version of
AOC between January 2021 and June 2025. The articles allow readers to
get to the heart of the matter by recalling the conditions surrounding
the rise of fascism in Germany in the 1930s and the origins of the term
"fascism." While nearly a quarter of the volume is devoted to Trump,
contributions shed light on the situations in Argentina with the rise to
power of Javier Milei, as well as in Russia with the unshakeable Putin,
Turkey, and Israel. Also discussed are, among other things, the
sociology of the nationalist vote in France, far-right female activism,
and a perhaps lesser-known aspect of pop culture's appropriation by
populism.

The volume is well-crafted: the layout is clean, and color illustrations
by Iranian-American artist Tala Madani punctuate the articles. We
applaud the good idea of printing on recycled paper, as well as the
lightweight, flexible cover, which allows the issue to be rolled up for
discreet travel without overloading your vacation luggage. In short, a
very good read to clear your mind for the busy back-to-school season ahead!
