On Saturday, October 18, 2025, the next edition of ExisTransInter will
take place in Paris. ---- This annual march, organized by several trans
associations and collectives, has been making visible the lives and
struggles of trans and intersex people and voicing their demands since
1997. ---- In recent years, a global offensive against the rights of
trans and intersex people has developed. ---- In the Western world, this
is evident in the United States under Trump or in the growing influence
of transphobia in the United Kingdom.
But France is no exception caught between media-fueled moral panic and
proposed laws seeking to ban minors from accessing gender transition
procedures.
This offensive is part of a broader context of the rise of the far
right, fascism, and masculinist ideologies.
Their attacks on the rights of trans and intersex people are part of a
deliberate strategy aimed more broadly at LGBTI people, women, and other
marginalized groups.
That is why trans and intersex struggles are inseparable from, among
others, anti-patriarchal and anti-fascist struggles.
The UCL, as an anti-fascist and feminist political organization, fully
supports the demands of ExisTransInter and provides organizational
backing by mobilizing its activist forces.
We call not only on those directly concerned but also on all allies to
take part in this nationwide march.
By uniting and standing together to defend each and every one of us, we
will not only resist the current reactionary offensive but will continue
to win our legitimate rights: an end to discrimination and medical
violence, real and effective depsychiatrization of transition pathways,
a true public health policy (ending, in particular, the practices of the
multidisciplinary teams of the former SoFECT), strengthened social
security under the control of our class, simplified civil status change
procedures (based on a single sworn statement), and the abolition of the
gender marker (an archaic symbol of state control over bodies and
families that fuels discrimination).
For a world freed from patriarchy and emancipated from all oppression
based on gender!
