WORLD WORLDWIDE EUROPE FRANCE - news journal UPDATE - (en) France, Monde Libertaire - PALESTINE - ISRAEL: THE STATE IS AS USEFUL AS A HOLE IN THE HEAD (ca, de, fr, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

On Monday, September 22, 2025, after several hesitations and delays,
French President Emmanuel Macron announced that France now recognizes
the State of Palestine. We are not naive about the political and
geopolitical agendas and ulterior motives of the powerful. This
declaration, in which Macron readily speaks of "absolute urgency" or
"bombings in Gaza" while conveniently avoiding the term genocide, will
unfortunately not bring an end to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The situation in Gaza, in the occupied West Bank, in Lebanon, etc.,
worsens day by day. When an army like the IDF bombs, kills, and wounds
tens of thousands of unarmed people under the pretext of destroying
Hamas, while openly pursuing a project of ethnic cleansing, we are
undeniably witnessing a genocide. The term is now broadly accepted by
NGOs and serious journalists around the world.
Gazans are dying of hunger because the occupying army prevents the entry
of humanitarian aid. Countless testimonies from doctors report "very
severe emaciation with significant loss of weight and muscle mass."
Amnesty International confirmed in its statement of August 18, 2025,
that Israel is conducting a "deliberate starvation campaign" in Gaza.
Even the UN had called, just days earlier, to flood Gaza with food aid
to avoid famine. Once again, the terms must be used plainly: the Israeli
army is using starvation as a weapon of war.

The "victorious" powers of the Second World War established, at its end,
a new global balance of power. They carved up the cake.
Since the UN General Assembly and the special committee on Palestine in
1947, Israel and Palestine have each sought recognition as states.
Israel was quickly recognized de jure by the Soviets and de facto by the
Americans; the Palestinian state, however, never materialized.
Nevertheless, one can say that a proto-Palestinian state has existed
since 1988. Indeed, on November 15 of that year in Algiers, the
Palestinian National Council unilaterally declared the independence of
Palestine, and fourteen states recognized it immediately. It was not
until May 28, 2024, that the first Western European states recognized
Palestine: the governments of Spain, Norway, and Ireland.
Today, ethnic cleansing continues under the far-right Israeli
government. Thus, on August 15, 2025, Netanyahu's government was
discussing with South Sudan the possibility of deporting Gazans there -
about 2 million people.
All current factors in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict show that the
formation of a Palestinian state is, at least for now, impossible. The
recognition of this state announced by Macron promises, like that of
Spain, Ireland, and Norway, to change nothing in this picture or in the
fate of Palestinians.
The dismal leader himself admits that "the recognition of a state by
other states does not necessarily lead to its actual existence."
An exclusively Palestinian or Arab state would only deepen hatred and
warmongering on both sides, and given the political forces currently at
play, a Palestinian state would likely treat non-Palestinians within its
territory no better than its neighbor does.
On this land called Palestine/Israel, the only solution after so many
years of conflict is a configuration that allows all peoples living
there - regardless of religion or affiliation - to live together. This
will not come through two nation-states but through a single entity
recognizing equal rights for all.
It is not a matter of digging into a fantasized past that existed 10,
100, or 1000 years ago. We must agree that everyone living on this land
today (whatever name one gives it) should be able to live together and
in peace.
The conclusion of the recent pamphlet by the Makhno network ("Holy Land,
Endless War: the Creation of the State of Israel in Palestine, Zionism
and Utopias," Éd. du Monde Libertaire, 2025) is unequivocal: "The
creation of the State of Israel is a human failure. A true social and
libertarian revolution can definitively resolve the Israeli-Palestinian
conflict."
In the meantime - so that all Palestinians, Jews, Muslims, Christians,
and others can live together from the river to the sea - the struggle
must continue to make the Israeli state stop colonization, massacres,
exclusions, ethnic cleansing, etc.
Pressure must be maintained so that Palestinians obtain the same rights
as Israelis, wherever they live on this land.
Too much blood has been shed. This must stop.
