It only took 24 hours for Macron to pull Lecornu out of his hat to
replace Bayrou's key figure. This is hardly surprising, given the
predictable outcome of the confidence vote and the president's complete
lack of willingness to cede even a single millimeter of social policy.
He is therefore seeking to stay on track, moving ever further to the
right. A former member of the UMP and LR, Lecornu's career is notably
marked by his commitment to opposing same-sex marriage. Quietly bouncing
from ministry to ministry since Macron's first election, he notably
helped implement pro-hunting measures on behalf of the Ministry of
"Ecological Transition." A former Minister of Overseas Territories, then
of the Armed Forces, he represents the most right-wing and repressive
wing of the President's entourage. The tactic is clear: try to win back
the votes of the LR and Rassemblement Nationale parliamentarians to
continue the same brutal and antisocial policies for the benefit of the
capitalists.
Faced with the obstinacy of a bourgeois class convinced that there can
be no alternative to its headlong rush, only a powerful balance of power
can reverse the situation and remind them that it is workers who make
the world go round, and who should therefore decide its course. As the
September 10th mobilizations dawn, let's work to inject a powerful force
that will last well beyond this date: strikes, blockades, sabotage—let's
remind them that without us, they are nothing. Do they want war? We will
make a revolution!
