From October 7 to 16, 2025 ---- Daily 3-6 p.m. ---- at the Hole of
Fame, Königsbrückerstr. 39, 01099 Dresden ---- August 9, 2025, marked
the fifth anniversary of the uprising in Belarus against Lukashenko's
authoritarian regime. It was the largest uprising Belarus had
experienced since gaining independence. All segments of society took to
the streets. Since then, people in Belarus have been persecuted for
participating in the protests and sent to prisons and penal colonies.
The repression continues to this day. At the beginning of September,
1,187 people were counted as political prisoners, but the actual number
is much higher.
We would like to use this anniversary as an opportunity to look back on
the events of that time and how the repression continues to affect
people today.
In a photo exhibition, we will present the first three nights of
protests in 2020 and the response to the massive police violence. We
will examine specific social groups that participated in the protests
and the importance of neighborhood meetings for the uprising.
Furthermore, the exhibition will demonstrate the extent to which
anarchist groups were involved in the events. The perspective of the
inmates will be presented through their artistic works created in
prison. The specific situation in women's prisons will also be addressed.
Opening - Tuesday, October 7, 2025 | 7 p.m.

Lecture (in English) - Friday, October 10, 2025 | 7 p.m.
