| Emergency Help Needed for Jelena’s Shelter
Dear friends, In the quiet outskirts of Serbia, one woman’s compassion stands between life and death for hundreds of abandoned souls. Her name is Jelena Kostić, and through years of struggle, heartbreak, and relentless dedication, she has created a small sanctuary that has become a last refuge for more than 90 dogs, 20 cats, 7 sheep, 2 pigs, and 2 goats — all rescued from abuse, neglect, or starvation.

| Today, Jelena is facing one of her toughest moments yet. In just a few days, six newborn puppies arrived — and more are on the way. Her food supplies are gone, vet bills have piled up, and she is fighting to keep everyone fed and safe. Animals First Aid has already stepped in, sending €300 from our reserve fund to cover urgent vaccines and food, but this is only a temporary relief. Jelena owes money to the vet, is struggling to buy puppy milk, and cannot turn away the new arrivals that appear daily at her gate. The truth is, we’ve reached the limit of what our emergency reserve can cover — and now, we urgently need to create a dedicated fund to keep Jelena’s Sanctuary alive. |

|
| Those who have followed Jelena’s journey know her deep humanity and tireless work. From rescuing animals from the pound of Vlasotince to treating the injured, sterilizing the abandoned, and feeding every creature who arrives at her door — Jelena does it all on her own, often skipping meals herself to make sure her animals eat.
Through past campaigns, our supporters helped her save Lucky, the blind dog who found joy again, and dozens of others who were starving, injured, or forgotten. Each one survived because of your kindness.
But this time, Jelena cannot do it alone. Her shelter is full, her debts are mounting, and the cold season is closing in fast. |

| | | | | Jelena Says: “..it’s getting out of control as it’s too much now..” |
|
| Jelena wrote to us in tears this week — surrounded by puppies needing vaccines, hungry dogs, and bills she cannot pay. “I don’t know how much you can send,” she said, “but I need to get the puppy vaccine ASAP. It’s getting out of control as it’s too much now.”
Her words capture the desperation we cannot ignore. Every day without help means another hungry animal, another puppy at risk of disease, another heartbreak for someone who has already given everything. Animals First Aid is now calling on everyone who believes in compassion to rally behind Jelena. |
