After finding an injured stray dog she lovingly named Minik Kuş, Sabahat Hanifeoğlu refused to turn away. Though Minik Kuş eventually passed, her story became the heartbeat of a movement — and her spirit now lives on in every rescued life that finds warmth and care at Minik Kuş ve Dostları (Minik Kuş and Friends Shelter). What began in 2019 as a small act of mercy for a few wounded dogs has grown into a refuge for nearly 90 sick, abandoned, and injured animals. Many were hit by cars, beaten, or left starving on the streets.
