Today's SCOOP is brought to you by our members.

Dear New Yorkers,

Don’t forget to flip over your ballot this November!

You won’t just be casting votes for mayor and City Council. There are six ballot questions that could ultimately amend the state’s constitution and revise the city charter.

Four of them aim to speed and simplify the approval process for affordable housing projects, changes championed by Mayor Eric Adams. But not everybody is happy with them, like the current City Council leadership, which calls them a power grab.

The proposals can seem daunting, referring to land-use review procedures and who gets to decide when stakeholders disagree and file appeals. But don’t worry, THE CITY has you covered.

Read our guide to all the ballot questions, including ones about city maps and election timing. If you find it useful, do us a favor and forward this email to a friend.

And remember, Election Day is Nov. 4. Early voting starts Oct. 2.

Now as part of the push to comply with the ADA, the MTA broke ground on station elevators Friday. "This work should have been done a long time ago, but I’m glad it’s finally going to happen," said 27-year-old local Paola Ramirez.
