Salut à Toots ! Profitez bien de votre réveillon et du premier de l’an, car nous sommes déjà de retour ce 2 janvier pour démarrer 2026 comme il se doit. Igor Gehenot invite Adinda Hertmans et sa voix cristalline pour le premier concert de l’année. La soirée se prolongera avec une première jam menée par Tomas Rivera, jusqu’au bout de la nuit, histoire de ne pas trop subir le décollage horaire post-Saint-Sylvestre ! Le samedi 3 janvier, Bart Defoort s’entoure de vieux briscards du jazz belge pour une soirée de standards qui s’annonce exceptionnelle. Un des piliers du club, Malek Patrman, ouvrira la jam à 23h. Le dimanche après-midi, Jasen Weaver rendra hommage à un pianiste trop souvent ignoré, mais au talent reconnu de tous et à la carrière impressionnante : Mulgrew Miller. On termine cette semaine de rentrée en très grande classe avec un dernier concert le dimanche soir à 20h : Tamir Hendelman, pianiste habitué des grandes scènes depuis des années aux côtés de Jeff Hamilton, viendra poser ses valises sur notre toute petite scène pour un concert unique, intime, et à ne surtout pas rater. Daarna volgt de eerste jam van 2026, geleid door Tomas Rivera, tot diep in de nacht — ideaal om de jetlag na oudejaarsavond van je af te schudden! Op zaterdag 3 januari omringt Bart Defoort zich met oude bekenden uit de Belgische jazz voor een standardsavond die nu al uitzonderlijk belooft te worden. Een van de vaste waarden van de club, Malek Patrman, opent de jam om 23u. Op zondagmiddag brengt Jasen Weaver een eerbetoon aan een pianist die te vaak onder de radar blijft, maar wiens talent en indrukwekkende carrière door iedereen wordt erkend: Mulgrew Miller. We sluiten deze eerste week af in stijl met een laatste concert op zondagavond om 20u: Tamir Hendelman, een pianist die al jaren op de grootste podia staat en regelmatig samenwerkt met Jeff Hamilton, speelt een uniek en intiem concert op ons piepkleine podium — eentje die je écht niet mag missen. On Saturday, January 3rd, Bart Defoort surrounds himself with some seasoned figures of Belgian jazz for a standards night that promises to be exceptional. One of the club’s pillars, Malek Patrman, will open the jam at 11 pm. On Sunday afternoon, Jasen Weaver will pay tribute to a pianist too often overlooked, yet universally respected for his talent and impressive career: Mulgrew Miller. We close this opening week in great style with a final concert on Sunday evening at 8 pm: Tamir Hendelman, a pianist accustomed to the world’s major stages and longtime collaborator of Jeff Hamilton, will step onto our very small stage for a unique and intimate concert not to be missed. At just 24 years old, the Toots Thielemans Award laureate is already making a name for herself on the Belgian scene, before leaving soon for a year in New York. This concert brings together a pianist of palpable sensitivity and one of the future great voices of Belgian jazz — a voice of striking clarity, supported by solid technique and a rare musicality. Bart Defoort Quartet - Belgian Jazz All Star samedi 3 janvier - 19:30 and 21:30 Bart Defoort (sax) ; Ewout Pierreux (p) ; Jos Machtel (b) ; Jan De Haas (dr) For more than 30 years, Bart Defoort has been one of Belgium’s most active tenor saxophonists. A long-standing member of the Brussels Jazz Orchestra and a solid improviser, he embodies a deep love for pure jazz, bebop, and timeless standards. Tonight he is joined by an old partner in crime, the excellent pianist Ewout Pierreux, too seldom heard in Brussels, the virtuosic bassist Jos Machtel, and the indispensable and always tasteful Jan De Haas on drums. Expect an evening of standards played by seasoned musicians who, like fine wine, only get better with time. More info

Nostalgia In Grand-Place : Mulgrew Muller - TRIBUTE dimanche 4 janvier - 16:00 Jasen Weaver (b) ; Vincent Thekal (s) ; Elly Brouckmans (s) ; Vincent Bruyninckx (p) ; Matthias De Waele (dr) Among the great jazz pianists of his generation, Mulgrew Miller is not always the first name that comes up — perhaps because he spent most of his career accompanying giants such as Art Blakey, Jackie McLean, Freddie Hubbard, Woody Shaw, and Joe Henderson. But overlooking his work as a composer and bandleader, notably alongside Kenny Garrett, would be unfair. Inspired, standing between the bebop of his hero Bud Powell and the modal spirit of McCoy Tyner or Ahmad Jamal, Miller remains a giant too seldom celebrated. For this Nostalgia in Grand Place edition, bassist Jasen Weaver pays him a deserved and heartfelt tribute. More info
