Ireland ---- On October 24, the Irish Republic voted to vote for the
President of the Republic. It's 63.46% of votes cast by Catherine
Connolly, independent of the sinister, lawyer and sociologist, activist
of the abitative politician and leader of her home, supported by Sinn
Féin. Connolly has won the Fine Gael centrist party candidacy, Heather
Humphreys has won. If the number is invalid, it will be signaled at 40%,
which is an obvious sign of the disillusionment of the electorate by the
country's policy. The high number of invalid ballots can be explained by
the Conservatives' call to invalidate them in protest at the way the
country addresses immigration and crime.
Argentina
Milei wins the midterm elections with 84% of the vote and gains the
majority needed to pass his reforms . Masochistically, or perhaps
because of blackmail, Argentine voters overwhelmingly voted for Milei,
giving him the parliamentary majority needed to pass his liberal
reforms, which had been severely stymied by the previous parliament,
where his party had limited representation.
Milei's victory overturned the predictions that he would lose due to the
failure of his economic policies and the scandals involving his sister.
However, it is likely that the vote was influenced by the $20 billion
already granted by Trump, which the country needed to avoid defaulting
due to Milei's policy of keeping the peso pegged to the dollar at an
otherwise unsustainable value. Before Argentines went to the polls, the
President of the United States promised to provide another $20 billion
on the condition that voters rewarded Milei. Although, given the outcome
of the vote, it seems the promise has been fulfilled, it seems the US
funding is also due to the fact that some American financing funds (one
in particular, managed by Soros - Scott Bessent's former boss) are in
trouble, having bet on Milei's success, which is not happening.
Needless to say, Trump congratulated him. A long period of hunger,
poverty, and desperation lies ahead for the Argentine people.
Georgia
Georgian Dream, the ruling party founded in 2012 by billionaire and
oligarch Bidzina Ivanishvili, won a landslide victory on October 4,
winning all sixty-four municipalities in the country, including Tbilisi .
Only 41% of eligible voters turned out, 10% less than in the previous
local elections in 2021. The opposition turned out to vote without a
strategy or a concrete plan for addressing the issues, choosing to
boycott and thus seize the votes of those who abstained.
Last fall, in the general elections, despite being criticized for
suspicions of actual and/or alleged fraud, the opposition parties, who
had garnered 38% of the vote and 51 of the 150 seats in Parliament,
chose to boycott, counting on international pressure, especially from
the EU, and street protests to bring down the system.
The significance and importance of the street protests, widely reported
and emphasized by Western media, must be scaled back. The government,
using available institutional tools, has cracked down on dissent by
arresting the most prominent opponents. The European Union's support for
the Georgian opposition has been punctuated by resounding declarations,
yet without sanctions against the country's economy. This is
demonstrated by the fact that the country's largest trading partners are
the United States and the United Kingdom.
Formally, the Georgian government continues to oppose Russia, as
demonstrated by the lack of diplomatic relations between the two
countries (even though Moscow is pushing to reestablish them). The
Georgian authorities' position is to demand the return of the
territories of South Ossetia and Abkhazia, controlled by separatists
linked to Moscow. The fact is that Russia holds 10% of Georgia's foreign
trade. In 2024, Georgia purchased $145.7 million worth of Russian
natural gas. Economic relations between Russia and Georgia are growing,
against a backdrop of Georgian GDP growth in real terms of 9.4% in 2024.
This year's figures are similar: Georgia's GDP grew 7.9% year-on-year
from January to August; over the same period, exports increased by
13.7%, state budget revenues by 8%, and, by mid-2025, the average
nominal wage was 10.3% higher than the previous year.
In 2024, Georgia ranked second, after Thailand, in real estate purchases
by Russians abroad. Foreign citizens' deposits in Georgian banks now
amount to 9.16 billion Georgian lari (3.3 billion dollars), 37% of which
are in Russian hands. This is partly because many Russian citizens,
protesting against Russia's intervention in Ukraine and escaping
conscription, have fled to the country. Russian immigrants have been
significantly active in Georgia, especially since the invasion of
Ukraine, establishing 30,000 small businesses and opening thousands of
bank accounts in Georgian banks.
Madagascar
After weeks of protests against the government, accused of disastrously
mismanaging essential services such as electricity and water, the
National Assembly voted to impeach President Andry Rajoelina, who fled
the country. On October 12, 2025, the elite army unit CAPSAT, led by
Colonel Michael Randrianirina, seized power . The new regime dissolved
the Senate and the High Constitutional Court, but decided to keep the
National Assembly in office. CAPSAT joined the protesters, declaring it
controlled all of the country's armed forces. On Friday, Colonel Michael
Randrianirina was inaugurated President of Madagascar.
The manner in which events unfolded makes it difficult to define the
military intervention as anything other than a coup, as what occurred
was not simply the result of a maneuver by a fraction of the army
against the government. The protests played a central role, both
initially and in pushing the National Assembly to dismiss the President.
Indeed, they argue that we are witnessing a revolution, a process that
begins with protests involving large segments of the population
demanding radical changes in the government or institutional system, or
improvements in economic or social conditions. The CAPSATs effectively
seized power when the country was at risk of sliding into chaos, and at
the protesters' invitation.
Fearing a repeat of similar events, the African Union suspended
Madagascar from participating, and the military has been quick to
reiterate that this is not a coup d'état but "a popular revolution
supported by a military unit." We will see whether the army has the
capacity and will to organize democratic elections and, above all, to
address the problems and at least attempt to resolve the structural
issues of a country that is one of the poorest in the world, and the
quality of life remains low for most of the population.
The Malagasy people boast a great tradition of trade union and political
struggle. They preserve the historical memory and teachings of François
Vittori, who established the first trade unions on the island. He led a
struggle for independence and freedom from French colonialism, which was
cruelly and ferociously repressed by France, and succeeded in freeing
himself from this
oppression. We therefore trust that this is an opportunity to attempt a
revolutionary experiment in emancipation from poverty.
Venezuela
While Trump is posing as a peacemaker, he's preparing for war. Proof of
this is the fact that, under the pretext of military exercises, "The USS
Gravely will be in Trinidad and Tobago from October 26 to 30, docking in
Port of Spain, while the 22nd United States Marine Expeditionary Unit
will conduct joint training with the Trinidad and Tobago Defense Force
during the same period." It should also be noted that a naval squadron
has been cruising the Caribbean for some time, officially tasked with
countering drug trafficking, reinforced by the recent arrival of the
aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford.
It's doubtful whether these are exercises, given that the western tip of
the archipelago is about ten kilometers from Venezuela and that the US
administration has accused Venezuela and Colombia of being
drug-trafficking countries. Finally, it's not surprising that several US
bombers have recently flown over Venezuela.
Anticipating a possible attack, the Venezuelan government armed its
citizens and called on them to be vigilant against a possible attack. It
thanked Putin for ratifying the Treaty with Venezuela on Strategic
Partnership and Cooperation.
The Treaty emphasizes that the parties firmly oppose unilateral coercive
and restrictive measures (sanctions), including those of an
extraterritorial nature, which constitute a violation of the United
Nations Charter and other universally recognized international norms and
principles. The parties also commit to combating the falsification of
colonial history, denouncing racism, genocide, and other crimes.
Furthermore, the parties cooperate on arms control, disarmament, and
non-proliferation, contributing to ensuring international stability and
equitable and indivisible security for all States without exception.
They cooperate in the energy sector in areas such as the exploration and
development of new oil and natural gas fields, increasing the yield of
fields operated by joint ventures and reducing their environmental
impact through the application of advanced extraction technologies, as
well as expanding oil trading operations on a mutually beneficial basis.
The parties have made the Treaty the promotion and creation of an
independent Russian-Venezuelan financial infrastructure; they also
commit to developing cooperation between their respective sports
federations and cultural and humanitarian ties.
The Treaty's signing represents a kind of warning from Russia against
engaging in aggression against Venezuela, which, after all, is a vital
partner for Russia to govern the international oil market.
The Treaty represents a challenge to the United States, which views
South America as its backyard, and at the same time puts a stop to US
aggression toward Russia, driven by economic reasons. The US is seeking
to gain control of the oil market (see the Abraham Accords), and
supports sanctions on the purchase of Russian oil and gas not to please
the Ukrainians, but in its own self-interest, pursuing the goal of
placing and selling its own oil on the market, which is much more
expensive because it is largely extracted from shale and is of low quality.
Regardless of how one views it, a potential US landing on Venezuela's
coasts or even the presence of troops on the country's soil, perhaps
counting on the unlikely support of the opposition within the country,
led by the pacifist Machado, would embroil the US in a civil war similar
to the Vietnam War, given
Venezuela's topography and the great determination of at least some
Venezuelans to resist the invasion.
Darfur - Sudan
After two years of war, on October 26, the paramilitary Rapid Support
Forces (RSF) took control of Al Fashir, the last major city in the
western region of Darfur, the capital of a Sudanese province, which was
still controlled by the army . The military has indulged in the most
unspeakable violence, carrying out indiscriminate rape and murder, as it
is a genocide carried out with meticulousness and ferocity. The conflict
has reduced cities to piles of rubble; over 8.6 million people have been
displaced within the country; the conflict has forced 3.9 million people
to flee to neighboring countries and live in camps in barren desert
areas, deprived of any sustenance, especially water and medical care.
Women and children are the most vulnerable victims. Violence against
women is widespread and ends with the killing of the victims.
Across the South, the situation is no better: 17 million children have
been out of school for over a year, and 3.7 million suffer from acute
malnutrition. One in three children under five shows stunted growth.
24 million people face hunger every day, of whom at least 8 million are
in emergency situations and over 600,000 are in a state of full-blown
famine.
The collapse of agricultural activity due to constant raids and looting
is preventing even the delivery of the little humanitarian aid that
remains, and the speculation on the country's remaining resources is
exacerbating the situation. Making
matters worse is the health crisis: 60% of the population has no access
to medical care. Cholera, malaria, and dengue are rampant. Hospitals are
being targeted by both sides, and health workers are being killed.
The conflict has taken on ethnic and religious overtones. Every
opportunity is ripe for violence, destruction, killing, and rape. A
genocide is undoubtedly underway that puts the deliberate act of
genocide in Gaza to shame.
All this is happening in silence and with the entire world's
indifference, perhaps because the inhabitants of Sudan and Darfur are black.
India and Pakistan
The brief conflict between India and Pakistan stems from unresolved
disputes over Kashmir, which led to wars and the establishment of a
temporary demarcation line, which became the Line of Control, after the
United Nations-brokered ceasefire in 1949. Since then, disputes have
been frequent because the territory assigned to India is the source of
the rivers that feed the region and are essential to life in Pakistan's
particularly arid territory, hence the ongoing conflicts.
A significant element of the latest conflict is Pakistan's use of
Chinese weapons, which have proven particularly effective and capable of
downing French Mirage missiles, which India has equipped itself with.
This is the first time that modern weapons developed by China have been
tested in battle and had the opportunity to demonstrate their
effectiveness, causing concern to the United States.
