WORLD WORLDWIDE EUROPE ITALY SICILY - news journal UPDATE - (en) Italy, Sicilia Libertaria #463 - GAZA. "Blue Helmets": Masks of the Oppressor (ca, de, it, pt, tr)[machine translation]

The UN, after two years of unprecedented violence in Gaza, finally

confirmed on September 16 that the State of Israel is indeed committing
"genocide," and all its allies, including the United States and Italy,
are therefore complicit and criminal. Fortunately, the United Nations is
telling us this, otherwise... nothing: the powerful would continue to
play their disgusting, convenient power games at the expense of the people.

In this context, where the Nazi-Zionist state, presided over by the
international criminal Netanyahu, respects absolutely nothing and no
one-not human lives, nor borders, nor international law, nor human
rights-on September 4, 2025, Democracy Now! broadcast a speech by Craig
Mokhiber, former director of the Office of the High Commissioner for
Human Rights, based in New York, in which he proposed implementing the
UN resolution. called Uniting for Peace. Only now are we realizing that
the United Nations General Assembly can adopt binding resolutions, in
emergency situations, for all member states, as the Uniting for Peace
resolution specifically provided. Mokhiber proposed the establishment of
an international protection force ("Blue Helmets") for Gaza, tasked with
protecting civilians, ensuring the distribution of humanitarian aid
(without shooting them), preserving evidence of alleged war crimes
(already very clear), and initiating the reconstruction process. This
instrument, already used in the past to deploy peacekeepers, would allow
member states to bypass the Security Council (and the disgusting abuse
of the "veto" by the United States over the past two years) and adopt
urgent measures to help the people of Gaza.

History repeats itself with cruel monotony! Oppressed peoples cry out
for freedom, and international institutions promise "peace" but only
export the "order" desired by the dominant states. Today, as Gaza and
the West Bank burn under yet another offensive by Zionist occupation
forces, a seemingly reasonable call is being raised by governments and
the media: send in the United Nations "Blue Helmets" to "protect
civilians" and "ensure security in the territories"! But we
anarchists-not theorists of inertia, but activists for freedom-must
denounce what lies behind this stilted language: the consolidation of
domination, the neutralization of popular struggle, the perpetuation of
hierarchies and colonization in another guise.

Who are the "Blue Helmets"? Puppet soldiers, disguised as blue knights
in the service of the UN, a body that represents not peoples, but
governments; not communities, but chancelleries. It presents itself as
an impartial arbiter, but in reality it is a clan in which the strongest
powers-from the Security Council on down-impose their will.

The hypocrisy of institutional pacifism is clearly demonstrated in this
proposal to send "Blue Helmets" to Palestine. This proposal does not
arise from the grassroots, from the desire of the Palestinian or Israeli
masses to find a common path of free coexistence, but from Western and
Arab diplomacy seeking to "stabilize" a situation that is also spiraling
out of control. The goal is always the same: not justice, but social
control. The "Blue Helmets" are not peace, but the military order of
states. We must not be fooled by the Disney-inspired or semi-religious
blue and white banners: the UN has already demonstrated, countless
times, that it is not a guarantor of peace, but an instrument of
diplomatic and military repression and mass deception.

Anyone who thinks these blue-colored puppets can "protect" the
Palestinians ignores the historical reality of the Israeli occupation
and the complicity of the great powers in the Zionist colonial project.
A UN intervention in Palestine would not be neutral. It would have to
negotiate with Israel, and therefore accept its "security" as a
priority; this would legitimize military control over Gaza and the West
Bank, the repression of popular resistance, and the idea that "violence"
is only that of the colonized, not the structural violence of the
colonizers. Worse still, the "Blue Helmets" would hinder international
solidarity from below, because they would shift the issue to a
bureaucratic and diplomatic level, emptying the struggle for
self-determination of meaning. In Palestine, the "Blue Helmets" would
merely be a camouflaged occupation force!

The anarchist alternative lies in internationalist solidarity,
self-management, and demilitarization: in the case of Palestine, this
means supporting the Palestinian popular resistance, not in its
authoritarian aspects (neither Hamas nor Fatah) but in its experiments
in self-management, popular committees, and forms of mutual aid in
refugee camps, cooperatives, and Bedouin communities. Rejecting all
forms of colonialism and nationalism, including Zionism, but also those
that claim to "save" Palestinians in order to maintain the existing
geopolitical order. Promoting internationalist solidarity networks, as
anarchist collectives, grassroots unions, feminist, anti-colonial, and
indigenous groups are already doing, building direct links with
resisting communities in Palestine and elsewhere.

Challenging military logic everywhere: in Gaza as in our own countries.
The army is never the solution, but always part of the problem.
Demilitarization is not a utopia but a necessity if we truly want to
talk about peace. In Palestine, liberation will not come from new armed
groups or from further militarization of the conflict: more weapons only
mean more victims, more oppression, more deception. Nor is the solution
to creating "two states," which would mean two armies, two
bureaucracies, two borders to monitor and divide peoples. We anarchists
dream not of a new state but of the absence of states: free communities,
capable of coexisting and self-managing, without imposed borders, local
or foreign masters, without armies, occupations, or authoritarian
governments.

Peace imposed from above is merely the continuation of war and injustice
by other means: true peace, lasting and just, is born of freedom,
equality, and solidarity. And there will be no freedom in Palestine as
long as a people is occupied, expropriated, and humiliated; and even
less so if this happens at the hands of foreign forces, under blue or
rainbow flags. We reject the illusion of "peace missions." We denounce
the humanitarian colonialism that treats peoples like children to be
protected rather than individuals with the right to fight for their own
emancipation.

The peace of the "Blue Helmets" is a peace that perpetuates injustice.
Ours, anarchic, is one of direct action, of collective liberation, of
humanity governing itself without masters or political parties, without
armies or saviors.
