This November 25, International Day for the Elimination of Gender-Based
Violence, we reaffirm our belief that this violence is a structuralpillar of the capitalist system, a mechanism of control that preys on
the bodies and lives of working women, gender dissidents, racialized
women, and migrant women. ---- Sexist and cisheteropatriarchal violence
is a hydra-headed monster. It is not limited to murder, but rather
manifests itself in a chain of aggressions that permeate all spheres of
life, intertwined with labor exploitation, precariousness, and the
various oppressions we suffer as a class. Economic, psychological, and
institutional violence is normalized through symbolic violence,
perpetuated by the media, advertising, and culture, which objectifies
our bodies and reinforces stereotypes that justify inequality, confining
us to a subordinate social space.
Our struggle against this violence is not waged in a vacuum. We are
witnessing a widespread strengthening of the far right and reactionary
discourses in Europe, whose misogynistic, LGBTQphobic, and xenophobic
agendas not only poison public debate but also materialize in concrete
policies that directly attack our rights and our lives. The migration
policies of "Fortress Europe" leave migrant and racialized women in a
situation of triple exploitation: as workers, as migrants, and as women.
Furthermore, their offensive is particularly virulent against the LGBTQ+
community, denying their right to exist and promoting an anti-rights
crusade that finds an echo in institutions and the media.
But in the face of this, we do have an alternative. The construction of
an anti-racist, trans-inclusive, anti-punitive, socialist, and
libertarian feminist movement. This is not merely a collection of
adjectives, but the foundation upon which to build a movement capable of
confronting cisheteropatriarchal violence. Only a class-based and
organized feminism that simultaneously transcends institutional racism,
includes and defends the rights of the LGBTQ+ community, and confronts
capitalist exploitation and the repressive logic of the state, will be
able to dismantle the structures that enable cisheteropatriarchal violence.
This is why, as platformist/specificist anarchists, we are committed to
strengthening the feminist movement, ensuring that its agenda extends to
other social movements, and fighting against institutionalization and/or
bureaucratization, until we achieve its full revolutionary potential
within the context of the working class struggle to finally achieve our
emancipation.
