Today's SCOOP is brought to you by our members.

Dear New Yorkers,

Dear New Yorkers,

The whereabouts of a 6-year-old boy remain unknown after he was separated from his Chinese father last week during a check-in with Immigration & Customs Enforcement at 26 Federal Plaza in Manhattan.

The Nov. 26 arrest marks the third time the two have been held inside ICE detention centers since they attempted to cross the border in search of asylum in April, according to Jennie Spector, a volunteer and community activist who met with the father after the arrest that landed him in an Orange County jail.

The father, whose name is Fei, told Spector he was separated from his son inside 26 Federal Plaza, but was not informed where the boy, Yuanxin, was being taken.

“This is a 6-year-old who should be in school, not living in detention,” Spector said. “And certainly now not being separated from his father, who is a caring, intelligent person who takes good care of him.”

Newly released data obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request shows there has been a steep increase since May in the number of children arrested and detained by ICE.

Next Mayor’s Move?

Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani said Tuesday he is still not sure if he will move into Gracie Mansion once he takes office.

In his first meeting with Mayor Eric Adams since the November election, Mamdani said the two elected officials discussed “how to continue to serve New Yorkers” during the sitdown at the official mayoral residence.

The Queens assemblymember, who currently lives in a rent-stabilized apartment in Astoria with his wife, also said he hadn’t decided yet if they will move to the mayoral mansion overlooking the East River

Adams and former Mayor Bill de Blasio moved into Gracie Mansion, although Adams often spent time elsewhere. During his three terms as mayor, Michael Bloomberg stayed in his home on the Upper East Side.

Mandani said the meeting “went well” and praised the mayor’s trash-containerization efforts and the sweeping City of Yes housing agenda.

Things To Do

Here are some free and low-cost things to do around the city this week.

THE KICKER: Netflix is interested in an on-screen adaptation of Robert Caro’s “The Power Broker,” with actor Matthew Rhys in line to be cast as Robert Moses — but publishing rights to the Pulitzer Prize-winning epic from 1974 have emerged as a sticking point.

Thanks, as always, for reading. Make it a great Wednesday.
