Cette semaine, c’est le piano qui est à l’honneur au club. Et avec l’instrument exceptionnel que nous avons, c’est bien normal.
La jam de mercredi se fera en compagnie d’Igor Gehenot. Le prolifique pianiste invite pour l’occasion le bassiste américain Doug Weiss : une chance rare d’avoir un musicien d’un tel calibre dans notre petit club. Armando Luongo, swingueur de référence, complète le trio. Venez tôt pour être bien installé.
Jeudi, Joachim Caffonnette invite Jean-Paul Estiévenart pour l’apéro, tout en standards. Pour sa première au club, le génial virtuose Johan Dupont vient présenter le second album du trio qu’il forme avec le violoniste Joachim Iannello et l’un des très grands noms actuels de la guitare manouche : Samson Schmitt. Ça swing, ça rigole et ça donne le sourire en ces temps troublés.
Vendredi, nouveau groupe du pianiste aussi talentueux que discret Pascal Mohy, avec son complice de longue date Ben Sluijs. Si vous aimez ce qui est beau, vous aimerez ce quintet. La soirée se prolonge avec la late jam menée par le jeune et talentueux pianiste taïwanais Jerry Kuan.
Encore un nouveau groupe samedi pour la pianiste Eve Beuvens. Elle s’entoure de l’une des saxophonistes les plus en vue du pays ces derniers temps, Elly Brouckmans, pour un nouveau quartet. Compositrice de talent et improvisatrice maîtrisant aussi bien l’espace que la prise de risque, on n’est jamais déçu avec Eve. Venez les yeux fermés. La late jam sera assurée par un pilier du jazz belge, l’éclectique et joyeux Toine Thys.
Dimanche, on reste avec le piano pour un hommage à deux des plus grands de l’histoire : Thelonious Monk et Bud Powell, dans un quartet dirigé par Bart Defoort. On termine la semaine avec le rendez-vous mensuel du crooner Tom McGuire en soirée.

Deze week staat de piano centraal in de club. Met zo’n uitzonderlijk instrument is dat alleen maar logisch.
De jam van woensdag wordt geleid door Igor Gehenot. Voor deze gelegenheid nodigt de productieve pianist de Amerikaanse bassist Doug Weiss uit — een zeldzame kans om een muzikant van dit kaliber in onze intieme club te horen. Swing-specialist Armando Luongo vervolledigt het trio. Kom op tijd voor een goede plaats.
Op donderdag nodigt Joachim Caffonnette Jean-Paul Estiévenart uit voor een aperitiefconcert vol standards. Voor zijn eerste optreden in de club stelt de briljante virtuoos Johan Dupont het tweede album voor van het trio dat hij vormt met violist Joachim Iannello en een van de grote namen van de hedendaagse manouchegitaar, Samson Schmitt. Het swingt, het amuseert en het doet deugd in deze onrustige tijden.
Vrijdag brengt een nieuw project van de even discrete als getalenteerde pianist Pascal Mohy, samen met zijn vaste compagnon Ben Sluijs. Wie houdt van mooie muziek zal dit kwintet zeker waarderen. De avond loopt door met een late jam onder leiding van de jonge en getalenteerde Taiwanese pianist Jerry Kuan.
Zaterdag volgt opnieuw een nieuw project met pianiste Eve Beuvens. Zij omringt zich met een van de meest opvallende saxofonisten van de afgelopen maanden, Elly Brouckmans, voor een nieuw kwartet. Als componiste en improvisator met een sterk gevoel voor ruimte en avontuur stelt Eve nooit teleur. Kom gerust zonder aarzelen. De late jam wordt geleid door een vaste waarde van de Belgische jazz, de eclectische en vrolijke Toine Thys.
Op zondag blijven we bij de piano met een hommage aan twee reuzen uit de jazzgeschiedenis, Thelonious Monk en Bud Powell, in een kwartet onder leiding van Bart Defoort. De week wordt afgesloten met de maandelijkse avond van crooner Tom McGuire.
