The Libertarian Communist Union has learned of the death of Mohammed Harbi, who passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at the age of 92. Mohammed Harbi was a former FLN militant during the Algerian War. He was born on June 16, 1933, in El Harrouch near Skikda, Algeria, where he began his activism by becoming head of the high school section of the MTLD (Movement for the Triumph of Democratic Liberties). A sympathizer of Marxist ideas, he joined the FLN's French branch shortly after arriving in mainland France in 1952.
