poverty and the obsessive reenactment of familism, of family roles and
hierarchies, through the sexual division of labor, but above all through
what serves to enforce all this: a patriarchal conception that
represents hierarchy, order, domination, supremacism. A conception
hinged on a marked and unequivocal sexual identity that seeks to
overturn all freedom. It is in this context that femicides, lesbian and
transgender murders occur, as do the suicides induced by a society that
denies self-determination, but also the countless acts of sexual and
sexist violence that occur in the workplace and school, within the
family, in our social networks, sometimes even in the social, political,
and community spaces we frequent. The institutional response, especially
at this particular moment, when patriarchal violence is being
implemented through specific, markedly homophobic and familist
government policies, is the same as always, characterized solely by
security-based and punitive interventions. While funding and space are
being cut for anti-violence centers, while educational discussions on
sexuality and relationships are being excluded from the school system,
while rape culture is effectively being fueled, the only response to the
spread of violence is the proliferation of repressive measures that
serve only to confirm the violent identity of the ruling right and the
institutions that explicitly enforce the state's actions. Yet there is a
daily reality in which many collectives, many realities, many groups
confront the issue of violence beyond the clanking of handcuffs, beyond
the logic of justice and security, beyond the constraints of electronic
bracelets, bars, and sentence increases. They identify and unmask
violence in all its forms, seeking to deconstruct it and remove it from
our lives, reasoning not from a punitive perspective but from a real and
possible transformation of relationships that accompanies a radical
social transformation. They seek to conceive, plan, and build a
liberated society.
