The Initiative was formed in response to our open call on January 24 and 25. ---- Our village square and the blockade site became meeting places for people from different backgrounds, united in a nationwide struggle against the plundering of nature and our mountains. ---- Collectives and assemblies, mountaineering clubs, farmers, beekeepers and individuals met with a willingness for open dialogue and co-formation. ---- This dynamic, in the increasingly dark days we live in, is not just a given. The need to create nuclei of resistance and struggle is imperative and the response of the solidarity world so far is moving.
However, the response of the state apparatus and the company was, once again, repression. On Monday, January 26, police forces along with local thugs arrived at the blockade with clearly aggressive intentions. They blocked the area and launched a manhunt in the mountain, pursuing activists in extremely adverse conditions, attempting to disperse the crowd by force.At the same time, in the village and around it, security and patrol cars remained until noon, setting up a scene of intimidation and terror that takes us back decades.
Despite all this, the Kosmas blockade does not bend or intimidate. It is rebuilt daily, against repression, threats and terrorism. That is why we are calling again for the weekend of January 31 - February 1 in Kosmas.
Let's defend the mountain in action.
Let's break the fear.
Let's stand against the looting.
Kosmas does not surrender.
