Gaza ceased to be a city long ago, and not only because of its physical destruction. For those of us who haven't experienced its bloody reality firsthand, Gaza has become an abstract concept, its meaning shifting depending on the scrutinizing eyes that gaze upon it. Cruelty, resistance, dehumanization, solidarity, indifference, frustration, selflessness, rage, hope, inequality, and injustice intertwine in an unfathomable tangle, almost impossible to unravel. In the age of hyperconnected individualism, powerlessness seems to be the only path left for those who, still with humanity, have not yet found answers in collective struggle. ...
