­ Donate Bi-weekly bulletin Issue 26/03 ­ welcome Dear Statewatcher, I feel incredibly grateful to address you all as Statewatch's new Executive Director. For the past few weeks, I have been getting up to speed while working with Chris Jones and the rest of our team to prepare for the year ahead. Now, I would love to hear from all of you.  We've put together a survey on our work in 2025 to understand what you are getting out of it and how we can improve. It should only take you a few minutes, but it will be a huge help for us. Give us your feedback >> Apart from planning, we have also been working to lend our voices in support of change.  In the UK, we signed a statement rejecting the racist & classist ‘Earned’ Settlement Proposals by the Home Office, and responded to a consultation on a legal framework for the use of biometric, facial recognition, and other technologies.  In the EU, we co-signed a statement on the EU's new draft deportation law with PICUM. Alongside this work, we have continued to submit FOIs and collect documents that the public deserves to see. The latest of these was a document on the EU's "Place of Safety Arrangements", which exposed the EU's plans to pay non-EU states to intercept and detain migrants. I'm proud to have taken on leading this work and look forward to your valuable insight on how we can improve.
